Laboratory Simulation of Low Earth Orbit

1999
Thin films of several inorganic protective coatings were prepared in duplicate by sputtering and evaporation. Pure oxygen plasmas were used as a source of atomic oxygen and UV radiation degradation, and in-situ spectroscopic ellipsometry used as a sensitive diagnostic of surface damage or film deposition.

Small Low-Earth-Orbiting payloads

6th Sounding Rocket Conference, 1982
There are a wide variety of scientific, military, and commerical missions and applications that can be performed by small, Low-Earth-Orbiting (LEO) satellites. There will be many opportunities in the 80's to exploit small LEO satellites for communication, data collection, navigation, location and tracking, earth resources, and space processing ...

Kinematic Orbit Determination for Low Earth Orbiters (LEOs)

2002
Kinematic point positioning of a Low Earth Orbiter (LEO) using GPS data is one possibility to get precise orbit information. This approach is followed at the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern (AIUB) as an alternative to the dynamical orbit determination.

Low Earth Orbit Satellite's Orbit Propagation and Determination [PDF]

open access: possible, 2014
Abstract : This paper represents orbit propagation and determination of Low Earth Orbit(LEO) satellites, which is immediate orbit satellite positioning. Beiseds, satellite global positioning system (GPS) configured satellite receiver provides position and velocity measures by navigating the filter to get the coordinates of the orbit propagation (OP ...

Orbital debris environment in low Earth orbit: An update

Advances in Space Research, 1993
Abstract Until recently, the definition of the orbital debris environment depended upon mathematical models and limited data which had been obtained as a side product of other space related operations. Measurements conducted to specifically determine the orbital debris environment are now being conducted. These measurements are confirming the general

Very low Earth orbit constellations for Earth observation

2022
Very Low Earth Orbits (VLEOs), those below 450 km, present a number of benefits and challenges for the development and operation of Earth observation spacecraft at both the system and mission level. This paper examines the design of constellations of satellites for operation in VLEO for Earth observation considering both system and mission level trade ...
