Low frequency modulation of jets in quasigeostrophic turbulence

open access: yes, 2016
Quasigeostrophic turbulence on a beta-plane with a finite deformation radius is studied nu- merically, with particular emphasis on frequency and combined wavenumber-frequency do- main analyses.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Vibration control of cryopump with an active dynamic vibration absorber

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
A vibration isolation device with an active dynamic vibration absorber is developed to remove vibration induced by a cryopump. Cryopump is used to make high-vacuum and low-temperature environments for precise measurement.

Dephasing of qubits by transverse low-frequency noise

open access: yes, 2003
We analyze the dissipative dynamics of a two-level quantum system subject to low-frequency, e.g. 1/f noise, motivated by recent experiments with superconducting quantum circuits.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Non-Resonant Magnetoelectric Energy Harvesting Utilizing Phase Transformation in Relaxor Ferroelectric Single Crystals

open access: yesActuators, 2015
Recent advances in phase transition transduction enabled the design of a non-resonant broadband mechanical energy harvester that is capable of delivering an energy density per cycle up to two orders of magnitude larger than resonant cantilever ...

Low-frequency noise impact on CMOS image sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
CMOS image sensors are nowadays extensively used in imaging applications even for high-end applications. This is really possible thanks to a reduction of noise obtained, among others, by Correlated Double Sampling (CDS) readout.

GMRT Low Frequency Observations of Extrasolar Planetary Systems

open access: yes, 2007
Extrasolar planets are expected to emit detectable low frequency radio emission. In this paper we present results from new low frequency observations of two extrasolar planetary systems (Epsilon Eridani and HD 128311) taken at 150 MHz with the Giant ...

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Low-Frequency Feed-System-Coupled Combustion Instability in Hybrid Rocket Motors

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2013
The low-frequency unstable combustion of hybrid rocket motors was investigated using the transfer function of the full thermal-combustion-gasdynamic coupled system that was coupled with a liquid oxidizer feed system.
