Novel Genetic Risk Factor Identified for L‐Asparaginase‐Induced Pancreatitis in Pediatric Patients With Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background L‐asparaginase is a critical component in treatment protocols for pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Acute pancreatitis reactions can necessitate delays and, in some cases, discontinuation of L‐asparaginase, which compromises outcomes.

Low-frequency gravitational-wave science with eLISA/NGO [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We review the expected science performance of the New Gravitational-Wave Observatory (NGO, a.k.a. eLISA), a mission under study by the European Space Agency for launch in the early 2020s. eLISA will survey the low-frequency gravitational-wave sky (from 0.

Outcomes and Surgical Management of Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor of the Kidney: A Report From the Pediatric Surgical Oncology Research Collaborative

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Malignant rhabdoid tumor of the kidney (MRTK) is a rare, aggressive tumor seen in young children. The optimal timing of resection for locally advanced tumors is not well‐defined. The purpose of this study is to evaluate modern oncologic outcomes and the impact of surgical timing. Methods A multicenter retrospective review was performed

Low-frequency current fluctuations in doped ladders

open access: yes, 2001
Charge current static and dynamical correlations are computed by exact diagonalisation methods on a 2-leg t-t'-J ladder which exhibits a sharp transition between a Luther-Emery (LE) phase of hole pairs and a phase with deconfined holes.

Pancreas, Muscle, and Subcutaneous Fat Atrophy in Patients Undergoing Radiation for Neuroblastoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Radiation therapy (RT) is part of standard‐of‐care therapy in high‐risk neuroblastoma (HR‐NBL) but can significantly affect nearby tissue. The objectives of this study were (1) to characterize changes in pancreas volume after RT and (2) to characterize changes in body composition, including body weight percentile ...

Low-Frequency Model for Radiofrequency Absorbers

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, 1995
A simple model is developed to characterize the behavior of radio-frequency absorbers at low frequency. The absorber is represented by a flat, homogeneous, isotropic slab of lossy material, with effective constitutive parameters. These parameters are determined by a fit to measured data.

Intraoperative Collection of Ascitic Fluid With Intra‐ or Postoperative Reinfusion in Ovarian Cancer: Safety and Feasibility of a Roller Pumping Method

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients with ovarian cancer often present with massive ascites, leading to significant protein loss during surgical procedures. Although cell‐free concentrated ascites reinfusion therapy (CART) is used in palliative settings to mitigate protein loss, its application in intraoperative settings remains unexplored.

Deployment of a short-term geophysical field survey to monitor acoustic signals associated with the Windsor Hum

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Physics, 2018
The Hum is a widespread phenomenon, reported in many parts of the world. It manifests itself in the form of a hum, rumble and pulsing, often felt as a sensation more than an audible sound.

Low Frequency Oscillation Mode Estimation Using Synchrophasor Data

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Deep learning techniques have been widely used for power system operations as a very hot topic in recent years. This paper proposed a spatiotemporal deep learning-based low frequency oscillation mode estimation method using synchrophasor data.
