Agroforestry and enhanced rock weathering: A dual strategy for sustainable cacao
Cacao production is both economically vital and environmentally intensive, presenting a major sustainability challenge as a crop largely cultivated by smallholder farmers in climate‐vulnerable regions. This review synthesises evidence that integrating agroforestry with enhanced rock weathering (EW) may significantly reduce emissions from cacao ...

Abstract The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) provides a specialized environment for the folding of secreted and membrane proteins, a process supported by many different chaperones. Among these chaperones, peptidyl‐prolyl cis/trans isomerases (PPIases) catalyze a rate‐limiting conformational step in protein folding, yet the principles governing isoform ...

Abstract Invasive plants can alter ecosystem primary productivity and carbon sequestration, thereby reshaping greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Here, we conducted a global meta‐analysis of 141 paired in situ observations to investigate how exotic plant invasion influences nitrous oxide (N2O) and methane (CH4) emissions in forests and grasslands.

Summary Introduction The UK NHS is committed to reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2040. Volatile anaesthetic agents are potent greenhouse gases and alternative intravenous methods exist. We aimed to predict the cost‐effectiveness of a transition from volatile anaesthesia to total intravenous anaesthesia to reduce carbon emissions. Methods A general

Conceptual diagram of soil carbon cycling across climatic and environmental gradients in Nordic marshes and grazing effect. Denmark's warmer climate, high nutrient inputs, elevated salinity, and sandy soils promote rapid microbial decomposition of predominantly labile and root‐derived OC, driving high CO2 emissions and relatively high although unstable

A harmonized LCA and TEA framework evaluates 19 bioenergy pathways, quantifying carbon intensity (CI), minimum fuel selling price (MFSP), and marginal abatement cost (MAC). CCS reduces CI to net‐negative values and lowers MAC by up to 64%, with bioelectricity achieving the lowest MAC and liquid biofuels critical for hard‐to‐abate sectors.

We demonstrate here the transformation of NBR (Nitrile butadiene rubber) including post‐consumer waste sourced from nitrile gloves and o‐rings into polyamines and polyols via ruthenium catalyzed hydrogenation. ABSTRACT We report here two new approaches for the chemical recycling/upcycling of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) to make either polyamines or ...
