A Corona Australis cloud filament seen in NIR scattered light II: Comparison with sub-millimeter data

open access: yes, 2009
We study a northern part of the Corona Australis molecular cloud that consists of a filament and a dense sub-millimetre core inside the filament. Our aim is to measure dust temperature and sub-mm emissivity within the region.

Pioglitazone plus (−)‐epigallocatechin gallate: a novel approach to enhance osteogenic performance in aged bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Aged human bmMSCs are seeded in the scaffold. Osteoblastic induction can slightly increase cell's bone‐forming activity to produce bone‐like tissues, shown as the sporadic xylenol orange‐stained spots (the lower left image). Notably, pioglitazone plus EGCG co‐treatment dramatically increases cell's bone‐forming activity and bone‐like tissue production (

Regolith grain sizes of Saturn's rings inferred from Cassini-CIRS far-infrared spectra

open access: yes, 2012
We analyze far-infrared (10-650 cm$^{-1}$) emissivity spectra of Saturn's main rings obtained by the Cassini Composite Infrared Spectrometer (CIRS). In modeling of the spectra, the single scattering albedos of regolith grains are calculated using the Mie

A Low-order Model of Water Vapor, Clouds, and Thermal Emission for Tidally Locked Terrestrial Planets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the spirit of minimal modeling of complex systems, we develop an idealized two-column model to investigate the climate of tidally locked terrestrial planets with Earth-like atmospheres in the habitable zone of M-dwarf stars.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

High-Temperature Stealth Across Multi-Infrared and Microwave Bands with Efficient Radiative Thermal Management

open access: yesNano-Micro Letters
Highlights Simultaneous stealth across multiple infrared bands (short-wave infrared (SWIR), mid-wave infrared (MWIR), long-wave infrared (LWIR)) and microwaves at high temperatures (700 °C) is achieved.

Analysis of infrared emissivity of EB-PVD thermal barrier coatings at the microscopic level

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) applications of yttria-stabilized (YSZ) are widely utilized on turbine blades of aviation engines due to its low thermal conductivity and high electrical conductivity.

Advances and challenges in commercializing radiative cooling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Radiative cooling (RC) dissipates terrestrial heat to outer space through the atmospheric window, without external energy input and production of environmental pollutants. More and more efforts have been devoted to this clean promising cooling technology;

Mid-Infrared Emission from Dust around Quiescent Low-Mass X-Ray Binaries [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2006
We report the discovery of excess 4.5 and 8 micron emission from three quiescent black hole low-mass X-ray binaries, A 0620-00, GS 2023+338, and XTE J1118+480. The mid-infrared emission from GS 2023+338 probably originates in the accretion disk. However, the excess emission from A 0620-00 and XTE J1118+480 is brighter and peaks at longer wavelengths ...
