Nonmodal energy growth and optimal perturbations in compressible plane Couette flow

open access: yes, 2008
Nonmodal transient growth studies and estimation of optimal perturbations have been made for the compressible plane Couette flow with three-dimensional disturbances.

A Weighted Splitting Approach for Low-Mach Number Flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In steady-state regimes, water circulating in the nuclear power plants pipes behaves as a low Mach number flow. However, when steep phenomena occur, strong shock waves are produced. Herein, a fractional step approach allowing to decouple the convective from the acoustic effects is proposed.

The analysis and simulation of compressible turbulence [PDF]

open access: yes
Compressible turbulent flows at low turbulent Mach numbers are considered. Contrary to the general belief that such flows are almost incompressible, (i.e., the divergence of the velocity field remains small for all times), it is shown that even if the ...

Bridging Classical and Quantum Approaches for Quantitative Sensing of Turbid Media with Polarization‐Entangled Photons

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work bridges classical and quantum polarimetry toward quantitative quantum photonic sensing of turbid environments. Theoretical and experimental investigations reveal how polarization‐entangled photonic states evolve in turbid media, uncovering robust trends in entanglement evolution and paving the way for advanced quantum sensing in biomedical ...

Pulse Generation by On‐Chip Dispersion Compensation at 8 µm Wavelength

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates on‐chip pulse generation at 8 μm$\mathrm{\mu}\mathrm{m}$ using chirped Bragg gratings in SiGe graded‐index photonic circuits to compensate the quadratic phase of quantum cascade laser frequency combs. With this approach pulses as short as 1.39 ps were produced, close to the transform limit, representing a key step toward compact,

On Numerical Simulations of Turbulent Flows over a Bluff Body with Aerodynamic Flow Control Based on Trapped Vortex Cells: Viscous Effects

open access: yesFluids
Turbulent flows over a semi-circular cylinder (a limiting case of a thick airfoil with a chord equal to the diameter base) are investigated using high-fidelity large-eddy simulations at a diameter-based Reynolds number, Re = 130,000, Mach number, M = 0 ...

Phase‐Retrieved High‐Throughput Multi‐Channel Simultaneous Surface Plasmon Resonance Detection

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work presents a new phase‐retrieval high‐throughput multi‐channel simultaneous SPR detection framework. By integrating an objective lens‐based coupling system with a rotation‐based ePIE (r‐ePIE) phase retrieval on the back focal planes, this framework significantly reduces the minimum required detection area to reveal localized information.

Cluster-based feedback control of turbulent post-stall separated flows

open access: yes, 2018
We propose a novel model-free self-learning cluster-based control strategy for general nonlinear feedback flow control technique, benchmarked for high-fidelity simulations of post-stall separated flows over an airfoil. The present approach partitions the
