Acoustic propagation through a low Mach number, stratified flow

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1996
Propagation of sound in an oceanic waveguide in the presence of a low Mach number, stratified flow is investigated. Equations for the wave-number integration (WI) and normal-mode (NM) approaches are simultaneously derived in a consistent formulation.

Low Mach Number Flows in Time-Dependent Domains

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2003
This paper concerns with a multiscale asymptotic analysis of a barotropic fluid motion in a bounded time-dependent domain when the time derivation of a boundary is small compared to the acoustic velocity of the fluid. The author introduces two scales for the time variable and one scale for the space variable.

Multiscale lattice Boltzmann schemes for low Mach number flows

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2002
A low Mach number approximation (LMNA) of the Navier-Stokes equations is widely used in numerical methods for the simulation of low-speed thermal and athermal flows. The advanced lattice Boltzmann approach (Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook) for the solution of the LMNA equations is discussed and its performance is compared with the performance of the commercial ...

A high‐resolution scheme for low Mach number flows

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, 2004
AbstractA method for computing low Mach number flows using high‐resolution interpolation and difference formulas, within the framework of the Marker and Cell (MAC) scheme, is presented. This increases the range of wavenumbers that are properly resolved on a given grid so that a sufficiently accurate solution can be obtained without extensive grid ...

Low Mach number slip flow through diverging microchannel

Computers & Fluids, 2015
Abstract This paper presents experimental and three-dimensional numerical study of gaseous slip flow through diverging microchannel. The measurements are performed for nitrogen gas flowing through microchannel with different divergence angles (4°, 8°, 12° and 16°), hydraulic diameters (118, 147 and 177 μm) and lengths (10, 20 and 30 mm).

Low Mach Number Modeling of Stratified Flows

2014
Low Mach number equation sets approximate the equations of motion of a compressible fluid by filtering out the sound waves, which allows the system to evolve on the advective rather than the acoustic time scale. Depending on the degree of approximation, low Mach number models retain some subset of possible compressible effects. In this paper we give an
