Computational Aeroacoustics for Low Mach Number Flows

1993
This is the text of an introductory lecture intended to provoke discussion of some of the problems likely to face participants in the Workshop as they develop the subject of Computational Aeroacoustics (CAA). Many of the points were already made by the author in a lecture at the 1st IMACS Symposium on Computational Acoustics (Crighton, 1988 ...

Low Mach number compressible flow solutions in constricted ducts

8th Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference, 1987
Tlie compressil~le time-dependent Navier-St.okes equations were solved numerically for flows in circular const.ricted ducts. Two types of const.ricted duct geometries wdre employed. a snlootli cosine form constriction and a st,ep like const.rict,ion. Time asgmpt,ot.ic st,eady-stat.e so1ut.ions have been obtained for low Mach number flows.

Low Mach Number Flow and Acoustics Equations

2002
Low Mach number flow theory is a singular asymptotic theory. A typical example is that considered in Sect. 4.7.2 relative to the degeneracy of the unsteady-state Steichen, hyperbolic equation (4.181a), in an elliptical Laplace equation (4.182). As a matter of fact, this degeneracy is a consequence of filtering acoustics waves that are present in (4 ...

Low-Mach Number Flow and the Discontinuous Galerkin Method

2022
This thesis describes a numerical method for computational fluid dynamics. Special attention is paid to lowMach number flows. The spatial discretization is a discontinuous Galerkin method, based on modal basis functions. The convection is discretized with the local LaxFriedrichs flux.

Acoustic Transmission in a Low Mach Number Liquid Flow

2021
The finite element method is used to solve the partial differential equations describing steady-state two-dimensional acoustic velocity potential due to a piston source on a body in a low Mach number (M ≤ 0.3) liquid flow. Both the acoustic and hydrodynamic fields are assumed to be inviscid and irrotational.

Efficient Large-Eddy Simulation of Low Mach Number Flow

2006
Turbulent flows at very low Mach numbers are numerically investigated using largeeddy simulation (LES). The numerical computations are carried out by solving the viscous conservation equations for compressible fluids. An implicit dual time stepping scheme combined with low Mach number preconditioning and a multigrid acceleration technique is developed ...

Axisymmetric Inlet Flow at Low Supersonic Mach Numbers

1976
A calculation method for transonic flow around axisymmetric inlets in subsonic free streams has been extended to work in supersonic free streams. The full potential equation is solved in non-conservative and almost conservative (quasi-conservative) form using line-relaxation.
