A Relaxation Scheme for the Simulation of Low Mach Number Flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A scheme for the simulation of inviscid flows with low Mach number is derived. The scheme is built on a relaxation system and it is based on a linear implicit time discretization. The advective part is discretized by a convex combination of upwind and centered schemes, in order to recover the correct limit when the Mach number goes to zero.

Statistical Error in Particle Simulations of Low Mach Number Flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We present predictions for the statistical error due to finite sampling in the presence of thermal fluctuations in molecular simulation algorithms. Expressions for the fluid velocity, density and temperature are derived using equilibrium statistical ...

A Hybrid Adaptive Low-Mach-Number/Compressible Method: Euler Equations

open access: yes, 2018
Flows in which the primary features of interest do not rely on high-frequency acoustic effects, but in which long-wavelength acoustics play a nontrivial role, present a computational challenge.

Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) for Head and Neck Cancer in the Elderly Population: Functional Outcomes, Survival, and Complications

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To compare functional and oncologic outcomes in elderly (≥ 70 years) and nonelderly (< 70 years) patients after transoral robotic surgery (TORS). Methods A retrospective chart review was conducted on 114 patients who underwent TORS for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma between 2012 and 2022.

MAESTROeX: A Massively Parallel Low Mach Number Astrophysical Solver [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We present MAESTROeX, a massively parallel solver for low Mach number astrophysical flows. The underlying low Mach number equation set allows for efficient, long-time integration for highly subsonic flows compared to compressible approaches. MAESTROeX is

Cost‐effectiveness of a randomized controlled trial comparing low‐dose aspirin to placebo for the prevention of recurrent preterm birth

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 169, Issue 1, Page 399-407, April 2025.
Abstract To assess the cost‐effectiveness of low‐dose aspirin compared to placebo for the prevention of recurrent preterm birth from a healthcare perspective. This was a cost‐effectiveness analysis alongside a multicenter, randomized, double‐blinded, placebo‐controlled trial.

Modelling of natural convection flows with large temperature differences : a benchmark problem for low Mach number solvers. Part 1, Reference solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
There are very few reference solutions in the literature on non-Boussinesq natural convection flows. We propose here a test case problem which extends the well-known De Vahl Davis differentially heated square cavity problem to the case of large ...

Vocal Fold Scar Treatment via Controlled Dexamethasone Delivery With a Light‐Activatable Implant

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
A light‐activatable dexamethasone implant was employed for the treatment of vocal fold (VF) scarring in a rabbit model. The implant enables controlled, repeatable drug release via near‐infrared laser irradiation, improving biomechanics, vibratory function, and histological architecture at the injury site.

Splitting methods for low Mach number Euler and Navier-Stokes equations [PDF]

open access: yes
Examined are some splitting techniques for low Mach number Euler flows. Shortcomings of some of the proposed methods are pointed out and an explanation for their inadequacy suggested.
