Low-Pressure In-Cylinder Fuel Injection
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2003<div class="htmlview paragraph">The Idaho State University design team, competing in the 2003 Clean Snowmobile Challenge Collegiate Design Competition, has developed a strategy to reduce the amount of harmful emissions common to two-stroke snowmobiles. The team designed a Low Pressure In-Cylinder Fuel Injection system to reduce the amount of fuel

<div class="htmlview paragraph">Over the last two decades, advanced engine control systems have been developed that use cylinder pressure as the primary feedback variable. Production application has been limited by cost, reliability, and packaging difficulties associated with intrusive cylinder pressure sensors.

Abstract It is the general retrofit to remove the last stages in the low-pressure cylinder of steam turbine for high back pressure direct heating, which can avoid the exergy loss caused by the traditional extracting steam heating mode of combined heat and power. However, the flow field of low-pressure cylinder will change.

Applicability of Pneumatic Cylinders in Low-Pressure Water Hydraulics
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2000<div class="htmlview paragraph">Low-pressure water hydraulics (LPWH) is a new field of fluid power technology. LPWH-technology uses tap water as a pressure medium and maximum working pressure is under 50 bar (725 psi). This technique enables better motion control and larger forces than pneumatics.

Low-friction cell for piston-cylinder high-pressure apparatus
Journal of Geophysical Research, 1975A high-temperature cell has been developed in which a weak salt such as NaCl is used as a pressure medium. This cell exhibits extremely low friction. The behavior of the cell was studied in detail by observing the melting temperature of metals by dta over the range 10–60 kbar and 300°–1400°C.

Proportional Position Control of Low-Pressure Water Hydraulic Cylinder
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2002<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper presents briefly some main properties of two proportional valves that are possible to use in low-pressure water hydraulics. The other valve is a commercial water hydraulic proportional valve and other is a modified pneumatic on/off-valve.

A low-pressure high-temperature technique for the piston-cylinder
American Mineralogist, 2008A method for conducting successful low pressure (0.3‐0.5 GPa) and high temperature (900‐1200 °C) experiments in the 19 mm piston-cylinder is presented. The technique is capable of running high fluid/melt experiments with minimum hydrogen loss, attaining precise, reproducible pressures (±10%), and has fast initial quench rates (>150 °C/s).

Failure prediction of low-carbon steel pressure vessel and cylinder models
International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 1987Abstract The failure loads predicted by failure assessment methods (namely the net-section stress criterion; the EPRI engineering approach for elastic-plastic analysis; the CEGB failure assessment route; the modified R6 curve by Milne for strain hardening; and the failure assessment curve based on J estimation by Ainsworth) have been compared with ...

High-Accuracy Low-Cost Cylinder Pressure Sensor for Advanced Engine Controls
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2001<div class="htmlview paragraph">A high-accuracy and low-cost cylinder pressure sensor reported in this paper compensates for all major temperature errors encountered in internal combustion engines. The auto-referencing technique maintains sensor calibration compensating for temperature effects on the sensor signal conditioner over the range of ...
