A critical review of low salinity water flooding: Mechanism, laboratory and field application
Low-salinity water flooding (LSW) is a promising new technique for enhancing oil recovery (EOR) in both sandstone and carbonate reservoirs. The potential of LSW has drawn the attention of the oil industry in the past decade. Along with the few successful

Acclimation and stress response of Prochlorococcus to low salinity
Prochlorococcus is an obligate marine microorganism and the dominant autotroph in tropical and subtropical open ocean. However, the salinity range for growing and response to low salinity exposure of Prochlorococcus are still unknown. In this study, we found that low-light adapted Prochlorococcus stain NATL1A and high-light adapted strain MED4 could be

Spontaneous Imbibition Test of Low Salinity Injection at Low Saline Waxy Crude Carbonate
Low salinity waterflooding (LSW) is categorized as one of emerging EOR technologies. It is done by injecting water with different salt composition and/or concentration. The research has been carried out for both sandstone and carbonate with the results looks promising.

Heritability of acute low salinity survival in the Eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica)
On the US east coast, Eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica) aquaculture has grown substantially over the last century. As aquaculture expands into previously unexploited areas, there is a need for oyster lines bred for specific environmental conditions.

Pore-scale numerical simulation of low salinity water flooding using the lattice Boltzmann method.
HYPOTHESIS The change of wettability toward more water-wet by the injection of low salinity water can improve oil recovery from porous rocks, which is known as low salinity water flooding.

Hurricane-induced failure of low salinity wetlands [PDF]
During the 2005 hurricane season, the storm surge and wave field associated with Hurricanes Katrina and Rita eroded 527 km 2 of wetlands within the Louisiana coastal plain. Low salinity wetlands were preferentially eroded, while higher salinity wetlands remained robust and largely unchanged.

Literature review of low salinity waterflooding from a length and time scale perspective
In recent years, research activity on the recovery technique known as low salinity waterflooding has sharply increased. The main motivation for field application of low salinity waterflooding is the improvement of oil recovery by acceleration of ...
