Effect of Welding Position on the Low-Temperature Impact Toughness of Weld Metal in High-Strength Low-Alloy Steel

open access: yesJournal of Welding and Joining
The effect of welding position on the mechanical properties of high-strength low-alloy steel weld metals was investigated with an emphasis on low-temperature impact toughness. Welding was performed in horizontal (2G) and vertical-up (3G) positions using two filler wires with different alloying element contents.

Flax Composites With Improved Interfacial Strength Through Microbially Induced Mineral Precipitation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A bio‐inspired biomineralization strategy introduces an additional hierarchy to flax fiber composites. By controlling microbe‐mediated mineral particle deposition through tuned salt concentrations, stress transfer within the natural fiber composite is enhanced.

Soft Yet Tough Tanglemers Through Rapid Photopolymerization for DLP 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Soft yet tough tanglemers are produced through low‐initiator free radical photopolymerization and translated to DLP 3D printing. Systematic control over light intensity, initiator loading, and crosslink density reveals processing windows that balance printability, elasticity, toughness, and feature fidelity. ABSTRACT Additive manufacturing of compliant

The role of mental toughness and affect in academic success within a higher education setting [PDF]

open access: yes
‘Mental Toughness’ is recognised as an important component in academic success (Robinson 2013) represented by the psychological qualities that determine how challenges are effectively addressed in pressurised situations (Dewhurst et al. 2012).
