Shear strain concentration mechanism in the lower crust below an intraplate strike-slip fault based on rheological laws of rocks

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2017
We conduct a two-dimensional numerical experiment on the lower crust under an intraplate strike-slip fault based on laboratory-derived power-law rheologies considering the effects of grain size and water.

Sulfur and metal fertilization of the lower continental crust

open access: yesLithos, 2016
Mantle-derived melts and metasomatic fluids are considered to be important in the transport and distribution of trace elements in the subcontinental lithospheric mantle. However, the mechanisms that facilitate sulfur and metal transfer from the upper mantle into the lower continental crust are poorly constrained. This study addresses this knowledge gap

Automated Extraction of Multicomponent Alloy Data Using Large Language Models for Sustainable Design

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A large language model (LLM) based pipeline is developed to automatically extract a comprehensive and accurate multicomponent alloy database from literature corpus. The extracted dataset is integrated with sustainability indicators to identify potential alloys that outperform existing industrial benchmark materials in terms of both performance and ...

Mechanisms of Aqueous Fluid Infiltration and Redistribution in a Lower‐Crustal Pseudotachylyte‐Bearing Fault

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Coseismic fracturing in the strong, dry, and metastable plagioclase‐rich lower‐crust is an effective mechanism for creating pathways for fluids to infiltrate the host rock, kick‐start metamorphism, and potentially lead to rheological weakening.

Machine Learning‐Assisted KCl‐CaCl2‐LiCl Electrolyte Design for Low‐Temperature, High‐Performance Calcium‐Based Liquid Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A machine learning‐assisted framework optimizes the KCl‐CaCl2‐LiCl ternary electrolyte. The optimized 13:35:52 mol% composition enables Ca‐based liquid metal batteries to operate stably at 480 °C, with >99.5% coulombic efficiency, ultralow self‐discharge, and excellent cycling stability, advancing low‐temperature large‐scale energy storage.

Intrinsic Dual‐Phase Regulated GeSe2 Nanoparticles Triggered by Ball‐Milling Treatment for Photonic Multi‐Valued Logic Circuits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report the solid‐state ball milling, a traditional, reliable, mass‐productive material processing, to prepare the air‐stable and dual‐phase GeSe2‐x nanoparticles with extended photodetection feasibility toward optical‐wavelength regions. We further display photonic multi‐valued logic (MVL) circuit through the employment of a hybrid PMMA/GeSe2‐x ...
