Homo‐epitaxy and twinning produce complex nanostructures in cryogenic calcite
A transmission electron microscopy study of cryogenic calcite samples reveals the homo‐epitaxial intergrowths of {1120}//{1120}rotated, {0001}//{1100} and {1102}//{1108} interfaces, all being energetically favorable, along with their cooperation with {1014} twinning.Calcite is famous for the rich diversity of oriented crystal growths.

Maize‐derived arabinoxylans modulate starch pasting, gel structure, and retrogradation
Abstract BACKGROUND Starch–fiber interactions play a paramount role in determining the functional quality and stability of starch‐based food products. This study systematically examined how maize arabinoxylans (MAX) influences the hydration, pasting, textural, and microstructural properties of maize starch gels.

ABSTRACT Introduction Foot progression angle affects gait and lowerlimb alignment. Altered angles may increase knee and ankle loading and produce tissue loading patterns previously linked to musculoskeletal injury. This study investigates how different foot progression angles modify knee and ankle biomechanics in young adults with flexible flatfoot ...

An Improved Fast Method for the Evaluation of Surfactants in Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery
ABSTRACT Evaluating oil displacement efficiency is an essential step in selecting surfactants for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) applications, incorporating crude oil, rock, and formation water. Originally, the rock layer for such investigations was prepared on a glass sheet using organic solvents.

ABSTRACT Soybean (Glycine max L.) is an important arable crop playing a major role in human nutrition and animal feed. Piercing‐sucking pests are compromising the safety of soybean cultivation worldwide, mostly by their enzyme‐containing saliva causing deformation, and tissue death within the pierced plant parts.

Abstract Climate change increases the magnitude and frequency of extreme weather events. This includes severe summer storms altering lake physical structure, biodiversity and ecosystem processes. However, insights into lake responses to extreme storms and the underlying mechanisms primarily rest on unreplicated and observational case studies, without ...

This study explores the impact of AR‐based guidance in assembly processes. Specifically, an AR‐assisted procedure using the ARKITE system was implemented and tested in a university laboratory. A test with 24 users was conducted and demonstrated the AR's effectiveness in reducing errors and achieving high rates of usability, even if time increase in the

Abstract We analyze the relationship between stock prices and insurance accounting and compare a historical cost with a full fair value measurement approach. During our sample period, European insurers had to determine the fair value of all assets and liabilities according to the Solvency II (SII) regulation, in addition to the historical‐cost‐based ...
