Deep crustal structure of the southern Baltic Sea in the light of seismic and potential field data [PDF]

open access: yesSolid Earth
The southern Baltic Sea lies within a critical transitional zone between two major geological provinces of Europe: the Precambrian East European Platform and the Palaeozoic Platform of Western Europe.

The Precambrian/Lower Cambrian pluton from Vila Nova

open access: yes, 2010
The Vila Nova pluton is a small, Pre-Variscan granitic body that intruded rocks of the Central Iberian Zone near the contact with the Ossa Morena Zone and is affected by several shear zones and faults. Its contact metamorphic aureole is constituted by micaschist with porphyroblasts in the outer zone and hornfels in the inner zone.

Raman Line Scan Analyses and a New Hypothesis for the Formation of Anatase‐Hosting Microbialites: Study of the Stromatolites From Saint‐Jean‐de‐la‐Rivière, Cotentin, France

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Micrometer analysis of millimeter lines of Raman spectra concludes in the association of anatase and graphitized organic matter (graphogen). The photosynthetic microorganisms at the origin of the microbialites produce O2, which is transformed by TiO2 into reactive species that, in turn, decompose the organic matter of the microorganisms. ABSTRACT Raman

Meander‐Bend Erosion Dynamics Along a Gravel‐Bed River: Insights From Short‐Term UAV Monitoring

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Riverbank erosion is a natural process in meandering rivers that contributes to sediment supply and geomorphic diversity, yet it can threaten infrastructure and human activities within the floodplain. Recently, many studies have used high‐resolution remote sensing technologies to measure bank erosion, but they often focus on technical aspects ...

Forensic Hydraulic Analysis of Floodplain Connectivity Driven by Historical Beaver Dams in Colorado Headwater Streams

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As ecosystem engineers, beavers (Castor canadensis) modify river corridor form through dam building. When beavers are removed from a river corridor, their unmaintained dams wash out, altering the stream's hydrologic regime. The assumption that beaver dams increase floodplain connectivity is frequently presumed but has not been directly ...
