Aspiration, respiratory complications, and associated healthcare resource utilization among individuals with Rett syndrome

open access: yesOrphanet Journal of Rare Diseases
Background Individuals with Rett syndrome (RTT) are at high risk for aspiration and also experience high rates of lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI) and respiratory failure (RF).

Estimating the burden of vaccine-preventable lower respiratory tract disease in UK primary care: protocol for a prospective surveillance study (AvonCAP GP2)

open access: yesBJGP Open
Background: The true burden of acute lower respiratory tract disease (aLRTD; includes acute lower respiratory tract infection [aLRTI] and presumed non-infective exacerbations of chronic lung disease and heart failure) among adults presenting to primary ...

Gut Health in Ostriches (Struthio camelus): Insights Into Intestinal Structure, Functions, Microbiome, and Improvement Strategies

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Our paper systematically reviews the intestinal structure, function, and microbiota of ostriches, along with strategies for improving their gut health. We analyze how these factors collectively influence intestinal homeostasis and ostrich welfare, emphasizing probiotics as a promising intervention to enhance gut health, boost population well‐being, and

Duck Orbivirus and Egg Production: A Newly Identified Duck Orbivirus Is the Etiological Agent of Egg Production Decline in Chinese Breeder Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Field samples from breeder duck farms with egg‐production decline were subjected to viral detection, genome sequencing, and virus isolation. Experimental infection demonstrated that duck orbivirus (DORV) causes a significant and persistent reduction in egg production in breeder ducks.

Ixekizumab With Tirzepatide Achieved Greater Disease Control Than Ixekizumab Alone in Adults With Psoriatic Arthritis and Overweight or Obesity: Results From a Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Overweight or obesity is prevalent in 72% to 82% of individuals with psoriatic arthritis (PsA). We assessed the efficacy and safety of ixekizumab (IXE) concomitantly administered with tirzepatide (TZP) compared with IXE alone in adult participants with active PsA and overweight with at least one weight‐related comorbidity or obesity.

Combination Therapy in Participants With Active Psoriatic Arthritis Using Subcutaneous Guselkumab and Golimumab: Week 24 Results From a Phase 2a, Multicenter, Randomized, Double‐Blind, Proof‐of‐Concept Study

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective To assess guselkumab + golimumab combination therapy versus guselkumab monotherapy in participants with active psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and inadequate response to tumor necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi‐IR). Methods Adults with active TNFi‐IR PsA (three or more tender/swollen joints) were randomized (2:1) to subcutaneous guselkumab (100 mg) +
