Effect of aging, season and temperature on pain threshold in laboratory rat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Every living creature meets with pain up to these days. Many researches are made in labour conditions, we try to find out how the pain works and how we can suppress it or how we can utilize it in our welfare.

MARK4 enhances stress granule formation under oxidative stress and increases tau accumulation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
MARK4 (red dots) localizes to stress granules (orange dots) and promotes their formation under oxidative stress by modulating TIA1 (blue dots). MARK4 and TIA1 synergistically increase tau (purple) accumulation, and the reduction of the TIA1 ortholog suppresses neurodegeneration in a fly model.

Future temperature in southwest Asia projected to exceed a threshold for human adaptability

open access: yes, 2016
A human body may be able to adapt to extremes of dry-bulb temperature (commonly referred to as simply temperature) through perspiration and associated evaporative cooling provided that the wet-bulb temperature (a combined measure of temperature and ...

Selective elimination of quiescent cancer cells by dequalinium chloride via ROS‐mediated ferroptosis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Dequalinium chloride (DQ) selectively eliminates quiescent cancer cells (QCCs) by amplifying mitochondrial ROS. QCCs exhibit elevated basal ROS and limited redox‐buffering capacity, making them vulnerable to further ROS increases. DQ‐induced ROS exceeds the tolerance threshold, triggering lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis, whereas proliferating cells ...

Comprehensive Evaluation of Junctionless and Inversion-Mode Nanowire MOSFETs Performance at High Temperatures

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society
This work aims to perform a comprehensive comparison of the electrical properties of junctionless and inversion-mode nanowires MOSFETS, fabricated with similar gate stack and state-of-art process, in the temperature range from 300 K to 580 K.

The implications of temperature-mediated plasticity in larval instar number for development within a marine invertebrate, the shrimp Palaemonetes varians

open access: yes, 2013
Variations in larval instar number are common among arthropods. Here, we assess the implications of temperature-mediated variations in larval instar number for larval development time, larval growth rates, and juvenile dry weight within the palaemonid ...

Ultrafast visual detection of Streptococcus suis via HtpsC‐targeted LAMP–CRISPR–Cas12a coupled with lateral flow immunochromatography

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A rapid visual test combines DNA amplification, CRISPR–based target verification, and a lateral flow strip to detect Streptococcus suis. The assay gives results in about 45 min, reduces false‐positive interpretation, and does not require fluorescence equipment.

Dactolisib outperforms Rapamycin in potentiating apoptosis induced by XPO1, Bcl‐2 and Mcl‐1 blockade in preclinical glioblastoma models

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The PAM pathway and its impact on cellular metabolism. Color‐coded key symbols represent Rapamycin (R, orange, targeting mTOR) and Dactolisib (D, green, targeting PI3K/mTOR), indicating their sites of action. Created with BioRenders.com. Glioblastoma resists therapy through interconnected survival programs.

Temperature effect on space charge dynamics in XLPE insulation

open access: yes, 2007
This paper reports on space charge evolution in crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) planar samples approximately 1.20 mm thick subjected to electric stress level of 30 kVdc/mm under four temperature 25 oC, 50 oC, 70 oC and 90 oC for 24 hours.
