Micropillar‐Engineered Hybrid Adhesive Patch for Surface‐Conformable and Directional Adhesion
This work presents a surface‐conformable hybrid adhesive integrating height‐optimized hexagonal micropillars with open‐rectangular cuts. The micropillars enhance rough‐surface contact and microscale crack arrest, while the cuts guide and reverse interfacial cracks for strong and directional adhesion. The multiscale architecture achieves robust pull‐off

Standardized Time Series Lp-Norm Variance Estimators for Simulations
This paper studies a class of estimators for the variance parameter of a stationary stochastic process. The estimators are based on L p norms of standardized time series, and they generalize previously studied estimators due to Schruben. We show that the

Matrix balancing is a preprocessing step in linear algebra computations such as the computation of eigenvalues of a matrix. Such computations are known to be numerically unstable if the matrix is unbalanced, that is the L2 norm of some rows and their corresponding columns are different by orders of magnitude.

The Local Rademacher Complexity of Lp-Norm Multiple Kernel Learning
We derive an upper bound on the local Rademacher complexity of $\ell_p$-norm multiple kernel learning, which yields a tighter excess risk bound than global approaches. Previous local approaches aimed at analyzed the case $p=1$ only while our analysis covers all cases $1\leq p\leq\infty$, assuming the different feature mappings corresponding to the ...

A custom shape memory polymer material selection process relates quantitative application criteria (e.g., compression garment yarns) to material characterization information. The selected materials are manufactured into yarn geometries, which expand the design space by creating structural stress‐strain profiles beyond the nominal material stress‐strain

3D Printing of Stretchable, Compressible and Conductive Porous Polyurethane for Soft Robotics
A 3D‐printable porous dopamine‐polyurethane acrylate elastomer results in conductive, stretchable, and compressible structures that can be metallized in situ through catechol‐mediated silver reduction. The resulting material function as both compliant soft robot with a and strain sensors without complex assemblies, enabling fully 3D‐printed soft ...

On the existence of the best discrete approximation in lp norm by reciprocals of real polynomials
For the given data (wi,xi,yi), i=1,…,M, we consider the problem of existence of the best discrete approximation in lp norm (1 ...
