Lichen bleaching as a response to long‐term experimental warming in the High Arctic
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Lichens are an important component of Arctic ecosystems. Studies have indicated a decline in the abundance of Arctic lichens during recent decades, which is often attributed to competitive pressure from vascular plants.

This work aimed to apply the principles of skin mark analysis to a cetacean species to build a sex‐discrimination model exclusively based on photographic material. Relevant differences between sexes emerged in markings, with males presenting more social, aggression‐related, and fishing‐related marks overall, and a stronger tendency of mark accumulation

Auto-Concealment of Supersymmetry in Extra Dimensions
In supersymmetric (SUSY) theories with extra dimensions the visible energy in sparticle decays can be significantly reduced and its energy distribution broadened, thus significantly weakening the present collider limits on SUSY.

Investigating relationships among strontium, barium, and seasonality in wild baboons
Abstract Geochemical profiles of Australopithecus africanus and baboon teeth show fluctuating trace elements, possibly reflecting seasonal diets. Here we use laser ablation–inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometric measurements of calcium‐normalized strontium and barium ratios (Sr/Ca and Ba/Ca) and ion microprobe analyses of oxygen isotopes (δ18O ...

Gravitino LSP and leptogenesis after the first LHC results
Supersymmetric scenarios where the lightest superparticle (LSP) is the gravitino are an attractive alternative to the widely studied case of a neutralino LSP.

In bilinear R-parity violation (BRpV), in which the superpotential includes a bilinear term between the lepton doublet and the up-type Higgs superfields, a sneutrino LSP can decay into pairs of heavy standard model states: W's, Z's, tops or Higgs bosons. These finals states can dominate over the traditionally considered bottom pair final state.
