We show that the combined dimming of Type Ia supernovae induced by both a cosmological constant and the conversion of photons into axions in extra-galactic magnetic fields can impersonate dark energy with an equation of state w < -1. An observer unaware of the presence of photon-axion conversion would interpret the additional dimming as cosmic ...

$D(X) < 1$ or $\hat{D}(X) < 1$ imply Property($K$)
2021Two new Banach space moduli, that involve weak convergent sequences, are introduced. It is shown that if either one of these moduli are strictly less than 1 then the Banach space has Property($K$)

The cosmological "equation of state parameter", w, is equal to -1 for a true cosmological constant, and is greater than -1 for quintessence. There is a widespread reluctance to consider the remaining possibility, w < -1, though in fact there is a variety of theoretical and observational evidence in favour of this range.
