Oak bark is a rich niche for beneficial bioactive compounds. It is known that the amount of the compounds found in plant tissues can depend on species, genotype, growth site, etc., but it is unclear whether oak phenology, i.e., late or early bud burst ...

Reconstruction of deglacial sea surface temperatures in the tropical Pacific from selective analysis of a fossil coral [PDF]
The Sr/Ca of coral skeletons demonstrates potential as an indicator of sea surface temperatures (SSTs). However, the glacial-interglacial SST ranges predicted from Sr/Ca of fossil corals are usually higher than from other marine proxies.

$_0 <1$ From Inflation [PDF]
An inflationary scenario that leads to $ _0<1$ today is presented. An epoch of `old' inflation during which the smoothness and horizon problems are solved is followed by a shortened epoch of `new' inflation. Old inflation exits through the nucleation of a single bubble, leading to negative spatial curvature on slices of constant cosmic time.

Variation of the density of states in amorphous GdSi at the metal-insulator transition [PDF]
We performed detailed conductivity and tunneling mesurements on the amorphous, magnetically doped material $\alpha$-Gd$_x$Si$_{1-x}$ (GdSi), which can be driven through the metal-insulator transition by the application of an external magnetic field ...
