Independent leaf and root responses to autumn freezing in perennial herbs: Insights from cutting and transplant manipulations

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
In this study, we compared two sampling approaches to assess autumn freezing resistance. Our goal was to determine whether the commonly employed cutting method, which disrupts root‐tissue connectivity, provides a valid measure of true freezing resistance.

sf3b1 mutant strains are defective in reproduction, development and fungi-infection resistance.

open access: yes, 2021
(A) Fewer eggs were laid in the early stage by sf3b1-H689D and -H698R mutants. Fecundity was measured over a period of 12 days from females crossed with the WT males, and each time point represents data from ten female adults.

Efficacy of the entomopathogenic fungi; Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae against the cowpea weevil, Callosobruchus maculatus F. (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae)

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Biological Pest Control, 2020
The efficacy of the two entomopathogenic fungi, Metarhizium anisopliae (TR 106) and Beauveria bassiana (TR 217), was tested against the adults of the cowpea weevil, Callosobruchus maculatus F. (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae) in laboratory.

Determination of LD50 and LT50 at Different Doses of Beauveria bassiana on Cosmopolites sordidus

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Agriculture and Food Sciences
Banana is a crop of global importance, both for its economic value and its role in food security. It is threatened by pests such as the banana weevil, which causes damage and can lead to considerable economic losses. Given the need to control this pest in a sustainable manner, the use of biopesticides, such as Beauveria bassiana, has been explored as ...

Evolutionary trade‐offs between beauvericin production and growth define divergent virulence strategies in Beauveria

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Two virulence strategies in Beauveria: a growth strategy characterized by rapid within‐host proliferation, and a toxin strategy involving antimicrobial activity and toxicity to insects Abstract BACKGROUND Pathogen virulence is often attributed to toxin production, yet toxins are metabolically costly and may not universally enhance fitness.

Sensitivity of High Conservation Value Birds to Para-Aminopropiophenone (PAPP) Determined by Sub-Lethal Dose–Response Assay

open access: yes, 2023
Para-aminopropiophenone (PAPP) is a methaemoglobin (MetHb) forming compound used for the lethal control of invasive carnivores and mustelids. By measuring the dose-dependent inhibition of O2 transport arising from the oxidation of haemoglobin (HbFe2+) to
