Scheduling optimization of optical lens polishing

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, Volume 33, Issue 6, Page 3744-3768, November 2026.
Abstract Optical systems have achieved notable progress in focusing and imaging technologies; however, manual grinding remains indispensable, resulting in elevated costs, extended timelines, and inefficiencies. These difficulties are compounded by operational constraints, uneven machine utilization, and risks of order delays and escalating expenses ...

Quantifying Multidimensional Effects in Linear Site Response Using 1D and 2D Simulations of Sedimentary Basins in Wellington, New Zealand

open access: yesEarthquake Spectra, Volume 42, Issue 3, August 2026.
This study quantifies the influence of multidimensional effects on site response in the Wellington region of New Zealand by comparing results from different simulation approaches. Response‐spectral amplification functions from 1D and 2D site response analyses are compared to quantify the magnitude and spatial distribution of multidimensional effects ...

Selective Optical Properties of Cement for Enhanced Radiative Cooling and Energy‐Efficient Construction Materials

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
Cement phases are good materials for radiative cooling thanks to the selective emissivity in IR ATW. Cement powders have high reflectance of solar radiation which reduces the thermal losses. The onset of the absorption curves is defined by bound excitons. Sulfates have higher radiated powers and reflectance than calcium silicates.

From fragmentation toward integration: a preliminary study of a new long-term care policy in a fast-aging country

open access: yesBMC Geriatrics, 2019
Background Taiwan, one of the fastest-aging countries in the world, started implementing version 1.0 of its long-term care (LTC) plan in 2008. In 2017, LTC Plan 2.0 began a new era with its goal to integrate Taiwan’s fragmented LTC service system.

Gene Therapy and Gene Editing in Type 1 Diabetes: CRISPR‐Based β‐Cell Replacement and Treg Immune Modulation Approaches

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 7, Page 5476-5491, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is a chronic autoimmune disease marked by the destruction of pancreatic β‐cells, resulting in lifelong dependence on exogenous insulin. Despite advances in insulin delivery and glucose monitoring technologies, patients remain at risk for acute and long‐term complications, underscoring the need for ...
