Apathy and social behavior in two samples of older adults

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia: Behavior &Socioeconomics of Aging, Volume 2, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Changes in social behavior are common in older people with cognitive impairment and may be partly due to apathy. We investigated the association between apathy and social behavior in older adults. METHODS Cross‐sectional study using data on (1) 116 community‐dwelling older adults with mild Alzheimer's dementia; (2) 52 older care ...

Tuning Ce‐Zr‐Al Mixed Oxide Supports to Enhance Pt‐Pd Catalyst Performance for Low‐Temperature CO and C3H6 Oxidation in Diesel Emissions

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 5, 13 March 2026.
ABSTRACT Diesel oxidation catalysts (DOCs) with low‐temperature activity are required for low‐temperature combustion diesel (LTC‐D) engine technologies to meet emission regulations. To probe the impact of oxygen availability on activity, bimetallic Pt‐Pd catalysts supported on Ce‐Zr‐Al mixed oxides with varying Ce/Zr/Al contents were systematically ...

Unexpected Evolutionary Divergence of Tachykinin‐Positive Neurons Innervating the Central Complex in Hexapods

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 534, Issue 3, March 2026.
The central complex is a group of midline‐spanning neuropils in the brain of insects with a key role in goal‐directed orientation and navigation. Immunolabeling in 25 species, ranging from bristletails to flies, shows that neurons containing peptides of the tachykinin family of neuropeptides are present in most species studied.

Hybrid Energy Management for Electric Vehicles: Enhancing Battery Lifespan and Efficiency With Marine Predator Algorithm and Dynamic Floating Mechanism

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
An intelligent energy management system (IEMS) optimized by the MPA‐DFM approach dynamically regulates battery power using supercapacitor energy in hybrid electric vehicles. The proposed control strategy minimizes battery stress and power loss, extends lifetime, and ensures real‐time stability across transient and steady‐state driving conditions ...

Computational Analysis of Spray Angle Effects on Combustion and Emissions in Methane‐Diesel Dual‐Fuel Engine

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 1100-1112, March 2026.
This study concluded that wider spray angles produce wall impingement and greater unburned hydrocarbons in methane‐diesel dual‐fuel engines, whereas 110° balances efficiency and emissions. ABSTRACT A diesel methane dual fuel engine appears as a potential means for lowering emissions while retaining useful thermal efficiency.
