Tooth Surface Modification for Helical Gear Pairs considering Mesh Misalignment Tolerance

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
Mesh misalignment in mating the gear tooth surface is common and difficult to be determined accurately because of system deformation and bearing clearances, as well as manufacturing and assembly errors.

Long-Term Care at Advanced Ages: The Effect of Spousal Bereavement on Institutional Care Needs. [PDF]

open access: yesHealth Econ
ABSTRACT With populations aging, long‐term care (LTC) needs and costs rise, intensifying the reliance on informal care. Since spouses predominantly provide such care, it is crucial to understand the transition dynamics from widowhood to institutional LTC, which is the main driver of the public LTC costs in most OECD countries.

Improving the sintering performance and dielectric properties of thermally conductive low-temperature co-fired alumina by controlling the firing atmosphere

open access: yesJournal of Asian Ceramic Societies, 2022
Here, we focused on the firing atmosphere to promote low-temperature sintering and enhance the dielectric properties of low-temperature co-fired alumina (LTCA) containing 5 wt.% of CuO–TiO2–Nb2O5–Ag2O as the sintering aid.

Autophagy signaling in hypertrophied muscles of diabetic and control rats

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 13, Issue 9, Page 1709-1722, September 2023., 2023
We analyzed autophagy proteins in extensor digitorum longus (EDL) and soleus muscles of control and diabetic rats after 7 days of hypertrophy. Basal autophagy proteins were higher in EDL. Diabetes did not affect the hypertrophy or autophagy in either muscle. Soleus showed increased autophagy signaling after hypertrophy.

On the definition and effect of optimum gear microgeometry modifications for the gearbox of an offshore 10‐MW wind turbine

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 26, Issue 7, Page 717-740, July 2023., 2023
Abstract This work develops an optimization algorithm for the definition of gear microgeometry modifications (MGM) on a gearbox belonging to an offshore 10‐MW wind turbine. Subsequently, the impact of the gear microgeometry on the performance of gears and bearings is quantified: First, under rated load conditions and, second, accounting for the ...

Association between emphysema and other pulmonary computed tomography patterns in COVID‐19 pneumonia

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 95, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract To evaluate the chest computed tomography (CT) findings of patients with Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID‐19) on admission to hospital. And then correlate CT pulmonary infiltrates involvement with the findings of emphysema. We analyzed the different infiltrates of COVID‐19 pneumonia using emphysema as the grade of pneumonia.

The Efficacy of Focused Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy and Ultrasound Therapy in the Treatment of Calcar Calcanei: A Randomized Study

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
The prospective, simple randomized study assesses the effect of focused extracorporeal shock wave therapy (f‐ESWT) on pain intensity and calcification size compared to the application of ultrasound physical therapy in treating patients with calcar calcanei. A total of 124 patients diagnosed with calcar calcanei were consecutively included in the study.

Free‐ranging red deer (Cervus elaphus) as carriers of potentially zoonotic Shiga toxin‐producing Escherichia coli

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 69, Issue 4, Page 1902-1911, July 2022., 2022
Abstract Shiga toxin‐producing E. coli (STEC) are zoonotic foodborne pathogens of outmost importance and interest has been raised in recent years to define the potential zoonotic role of wildlife in STEC infection. This study aimed to estimate prevalence of STEC in free‐ranging red deer (Cervus elaphus) living in areas with different anthropisation ...
