Chewable Soft Gelatin Capsules: Design and Formulation Strategies for a Patient‐Preferred Dosage Alternative

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Chewable softgels are a patient‐preferred alternative to conventional oral forms, offering pleasant taste, fast onset, and suitability for children or patients with swallowing difficulties. However, they present relevant challenges in their formulation: the shell must balance chewability, machinability, and stability, while the fill must mask the ...

Experience with duplex bearings in narrow angle oscillating applications [PDF]

open access: yes
Duplex ball bearings are matched pairs on which the abutting faces of the rings have been accurately ground so that when the rings are clamped together, a controlled amount of interference (preload) exists across the balls.

In Situ Synthesized Glycerol‐Releasing Nanocarriers Unlock Superlubricity in Oil‐Based Lubricants

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study presents an in situ synthesis of glycerol‐based nanocarriers in hydrophobic lubricant oils via inverse miniemulsion polymerization. Encapsulating glycerol within a glycerol‐based polyurethane shell resolves miscibility issues between glycerol and the hydrophobic base oil, yielding novel nanoadditives with tunable glycerol loading.

Gear optimization [PDF]

open access: yes
The use of formal numerical optimization methods for the design of gears is investigated. To achieve this, computer codes were developed for the analysis of spur gears and spiral bevel gears. These codes calculate the life, dynamic load, bending strength,

Cold EI—The Way to Improve GC‐MS and Increase Its Range of Applications

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry (GC‐MS) with Cold electron ionization (EI) is based on interfacing the GC and MS with a supersonic molecular beam (SMB) along with electron ionization of vibrationally cold sample compounds in the SMB in a contact‐free fly‐through ion source (hence the name Cold EI).

Mission safety evaluation report for STS-37, postflight edition [PDF]

open access: yes
STS-37/Atlantis was launched on April 5, 1991 from Kennedy Space Center launch complex 39B at 9:23 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST). Launch was delayed 4 minutes 45 seconds because of safety concerns about the low cloud ceiling and the wind direction in ...

Advancing Severe Plastic Deformation for Tubular Samples: Systematic Review and Machine Learning Optimization

open access: yesMetalMat, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advancements in Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD) techniques tailored for tubular samples. The mechanisms of processing are critically discussed with emphasis on microstructural control and the governing process parameters that enable refinement to ultrafine‐ and nano‐grained structures. Comparative insights into equivalent

Experimental Evaluation of Turning AISI 304 Using Minimum Quantity Lubrication With Vegetable‐Based Green Cutting Fluids

open access: yesMetalMat, EarlyView.
This study experimentally evaluates the performance of eco‐friendly vegetable‐based cutting fluids—coconut, sunflower, and palm oils—during turning of AISI 304 stainless steel under minimum quantity lubrication. Palm oil exhibited superior lubrication and cooling characteristics, yielding the lowest cutting force, temperature, and surface roughness ...
