Thiobenzamides as lube oil additives

Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 1982
Thiobenzamides are synthesized by an interaction of benzaldehyde with sulphur and various amines. The structure of the resultant compounds are confirmed by IR and PMR spectroscopy. This study investigates the effects of these additives on the anticorrosive, antiwear, and extreme pressure properties of oils. Anticorrosive properties are determined in DK-

Chemical Characterization of Lube Oils

Energy & Fuels, 2012
In this paper, estimation of the chemical composition of used oils collected from several European locations was performed on the basis of a comparative analysis of chemical composition of commercially available fresh and used motor oils. Although the motor oil undergoes a range of chemical and physical transformations during routine engine operations,

Apparatus for lube oil oxidation studies

Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 1982
This article describes work aimed at developing apparatus and procedures with which the kinetics of oxygen absorption in the course of oil oxidation could be investigated simultaneously with the kinetics of changes in the oil viscosity, acidity, corrosivity, and quantity of volatile products formed.

Catalytic Dewaxing for Lube Oil Production

Petroleum Science and Technology, 2009
Abstract The selective cracking of long-chain normal paraffin's of medium neutral raffinate, derived from a lube oil-phenol extraction unit, by the catalytic dewaxing technique over H-ZSM-5 and NiMo-H-mordenite catalysts was studied. The runs were conducted to produce lube oils with acceptable cold flow properties.

AIRCRAFT ENGINE LUBE OIL FILTRATION STUDY

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1975
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The aircraft engine lube oil filter maintenance practices of a small commercial airline were studied. Engines with known Times Since Overhaul (TSO) were selected and operating hours on the filters were controlled at 50 and 100 hours.

Alkylated polymers as lube oil additives

Journal of Materials Science, 1983
It is proposed that alkylated polystyrene is suitable for use as a viscosity index improver for lubricating oils. It can be prepared by alkylating polystyrene with tertiary alkyl chlorides or bromides from 4 to 8 carbon atoms in the presence of aluminium chloride or bromide as catalyst while having the polystyrene dissolved in an inert solvent.
