Reduction of engine trouble in the fishing boat by the improvement on the lubricating oil system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
About 72% of engine troubles of ships that Marine Accident Inquiry Agency had decided from 1996 to 2005 are related to fishing boats. Moreover, almost half of the engine troubles of fishing boats are caused by the lubricating oil system.

Digitizing the Filtration Interface: A Smart, Modular Janus Wood Platform for Self‐Reporting Oil/Water Remediation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work developed a smart Janus wood membrane integrating asymmetric wettability with built‐in electrical sensing for oil‐water separation. The membrane achieved > 99.5% separation efficiency and high flux by leveraging wood's natural anisotropic pore structure.

Topology and Material Optimization in Ultra‐Soft Magneto‐Active Structures: Making Advantage of Residual Anisotropies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

LUBRICATING OILS ON THE BASIS OF NANOLIQUIDS [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical and Chemical Aspects of the Study of Clusters, Nanostructures and Nanomaterials, 2018
We established applicability of dispersed medium based on diesters of carbonic acids for production the low-viscosity magnetic oil of new generation. It was shown unusual approach to select surfactant-stabilizer for colloidal structure of oils considering their dielectric properties and friction effects.

Droplet Electricity Generators With Maximized Energy Collection Zone Enabled by Aloe‐Inspired Midrib and Cuticle

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An Aloe‐pinspired droplet electricity generator (A‐DEG) overcomes the limited energy collection zone of conventional DEGs by guiding impact droplets through a channeling midrib and artificial cuticle. The channeling midrib induces uni‐directional droplet spreading, while the artificial cuticle on the midrib further reinforces this behavior through its ...
