Mollusk species at a Pliocene shelf whale fall (Orciano Pisano, Tuscany) [PDF]
The recovery of an intact, 10 m long fossil baleen whale from the Pliocene of Tuscany (Italy) offers the first opportunity to study the paleoecology of a fully developed, natural whale-fall community at outer shelf depth.

Pore Fluid Origins, Circulation, and Links With Methane Hydrate on the South‐Central Chilean Margin
Abstract The chemical composition of marine sedimentary pore waters, notably freshening signals inferred from decreases in dissolved Cl−, have demonstrated a link between methane hydrate accumulation and the circulation of fluids and gases in convergent margin systems.

Effects of Long-Term Starvation on a Host Bivalve (Codakia orbicularis, Lucinidae) and Its Symbiont Population [PDF]
ABSTRACTThe bivalveCodakia orbicularis, hosting sulfur-oxidizing gill endosymbionts, was starved (in artificial seawater filtered through a 0.22-μm-pore-size membrane) for a long-term experiment (4 months). The effects of starvation were observed using transmission electron microscopy, fluorescence in situ hybridization and catalyzed reporter ...

Abstract We describe a high‐diversity silicified assemblage of marine molluscs (Pelsa‐Vazzoler Lagerstätte) from the upper Ladinian of the Agordo Dolomites (northeastern Italy). New data on the Triassic rebound, after the end‐Permian mass extinction, constrain it to an interval of relatively stable climatic conditions.

Response of Mediterranean Sea bivalves to Pliocene–Pleistocene environmental changes
Abstract The Mediterranean Sea is recognized as a hotspot of marine biodiversity. Analysing its past biodiversity can help in understanding species' response to climate change. We built a species‐level dataset of bivalve occurrences across the Zanclean–Calabrian interval, a time characterized by significant changes in climate, and by bivalve ...

Fossils from the lower globigerina limestone formation at Wardija, Gozo (Miocene, Aquitanian), with a description of some new pteropod species (Mollusca, Gastropoda) [PDF]
Phosphatised fossil assemblages of four samples from the Lower Globigerina Limestone Formation at Wardija (SE Gozo, Malta) were analysed, with special emphasis on holoplanktonic molluscs (Gastropoda: Heteropoda and Pteropoda). The upper sample (sample 4)
