Effects of flow regulation in the life-cycles of a mediterranean cyprinid species, the Iberian chub (Squalius carolitertii Doadrio, 1987) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Streamflow is considered a driver of inter and intra‐specific life‐history differences among freshwater fish. Therefore, dams and related flow regulation, can have deleterious impacts on their life‐cycles.

Effects of Instillation Locations of Boulders at Bottom of Pool-And-Weir Fishway on Migration Rate of Opsariichthys Platypus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017

Life‐cycle responses of a Mediterranean non‐migratory cyprinid species, the Northern Iberian chub (Squalius carolitertii Doadrio, 1988), to streamflow regulation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Streamflow is considered a driver of interspecific and intraspecific life‐history differences among freshwater fish. Therefore, dams and related flow regulation can have deleterious impacts on their life cycles.

Pool-type fishways: two different morpho-ecological cyprinid species facing plunging and streaming flows.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Fish are particularly sensitive to connectivity loss as their ability to reach spawning grounds is seriously affected. The most common way to circumvent a barrier to longitudinal connectivity, and to mitigate its impacts, is to implement a fish passage ...

Biomass and abundance biases in European standard gillnet sampling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The European Standard EN 14757 recommends gillnet mesh sizes that range from 5 to 55mm (knot-to-knot) for the standard monitoring of fish assemblages and suggests adding gillnets with larger mesh sizes if necessary.

Ecology, behaviour and management of the European catfish [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The extreme body sizes of ‘megafishes’ associated with their high commercial values and recreational interests have made them highly threatened in their native range worldwide by human-induced impacts such as overexploitation.
