A NEW THINKING OF LULC CLASSIFICATION ACCURACY ASSESSMENT [PDF]
Abstract. A majority of studies involving remote sensing LULC classification conducted classification accuracy assessment without consideration of the training data uncertainty. In this study we present new concepts of LULC classification accuracies, namely the training-sample-based global accuracy and the classifier global accuracy, and a general ...

Freshwater ecosystem services in mining regions : modelling options for policy development support [PDF]
The ecosystem services (ES) approach offers an integrated perspective of social-ecological systems, suitable for holistic assessments of mining impacts. Yet for ES models to be policy-relevant, methodological consensus in mining contexts is needed.

Effects of habitat composition and landscape structure on worker foraging distances of five bumblebee species [PDF]
Bumblebees (Bombus spp.) are important pollinators of both crops and wild flowers. Their contribution to this essential ecosystem service has been threatened over recent decades by changes in land use, which have led to declines in their populations.

A GIS-based methodological framework to identify superficial water sources and their corresponding conduction paths for gravity-driven irrigation systems in developing countries [PDF]
The limited availability of fresh water is a major constraint to agricultural productivity and livelihood security in many developing countries. Within the coming decades, smallholder farmers in drought-prone areas are expected to be increasingly ...

Urbanization is among the human activities that affect the quality of urban life and sustainable urban development at a global scale. For monitoring human-induced changes in cities, studies on the changes in land use/land cover (LULC) based on a series of satellite images along with geographic information systems (GIS) are widely used.

LULC classification by semantic segmentation of satellite images using FastFCN [PDF]
This paper analyses how well a Fast Fully Convolutional Network (FastFCN) semantically segments satellite images and thus classifies Land Use/Land Cover(LULC) classes. Fast-FCN was used on Gaofen-2 Image Dataset (GID-2) to segment them in five different classes: BuiltUp, Meadow, Farmland, Water and Forest.

A Framework for Evaluating Land Use and Land Cover Classification Using Convolutional Neural Networks [PDF]
Analyzing land use and land cover (LULC) using remote sensing (RS) imagery is essential for many environmental and social applications. The increase in availability of RS data has led to the development of new techniques for digital pattern ...
