Laparoscopic Ureteral Substitution Using the Appendix for Complete Stenosis of the Middle Ureter due to Ureteral Stone in an Elderly Patient: A Case Report

open access: yesIJU Case Reports, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction While established in pediatric urology, the laparoscopic use of appendiceal substitution of the ureter in adults is rare. Case Presentation An 83‐year‐old man developed a 2.5‐cm right mid‐ureteral stricture as a complication after endoscopic treatment for a ureteral stone. Preoperative imaging confirmed an adequate appendix length.

Flexible electromyography sensor with in situ gelation hydrogel for early diagnosis of lumbar spine diseases

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
This paper proposes a flexible electromyography sensor based on an in‐situ gelation hydrogel, which offers enhanced adhesion, reduced impedance, and high SNR for detecting subtle EMG signals. It aims to supplement imaging‐based methods with a wearable solution for early diagnosis and prevention of lumbar spine disorders caused by prolonged sitting ...

Combining Detailed Fetal Anatomy Scanning in the NT Window Versus Early Second Trimester Scanning at 14–16 Weeks

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Objectives First‐trimester ultrasound has evolved to incorporate a detailed fetal anatomy scan (FAS) with nuchal translucency (NT) screening. Many institutions use a 2‐visit protocol: NT followed by detailed FAS at 14–16 weeks. We aimed to evaluate whether integrating detailed FAS into the NT window (12 + 5 to 13 + 6 weeks) is non‐inferior in ...

Mechanical Treatment of Common Neuropathic Itch Syndromes: A Retrospective Observational Evaluation of Mckenzie Method for Brachioradial Pruritus and Notalgia Paresthetica

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
In case a mechanical disco‐radicular conflict is at the base of BRP or NP, a spine‐directed approach in line with the McKenzie method is found to alleviate symptoms. ABSTRACT Background Brachioradial pruritus (BRP) and notalgia paresthetica (NP) are neuropathic itch syndromes that are often challenging to treat, typically managed within a ...
