Abstract Lumbar sympathectomy is a valuable palliative procedure in the treatment of selected cases of peripheral vascular disease. Clinical evaluation, plus objective and subjective response to lumbar sympathetic block, is helpful in selecting patients who will probably be helped by lumbar sympathectomy.
