Current Landscape of Short‐T2 Imaging Techniques in the Musculoskeletal System: The Past, Present and Future

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Conventional MRI is limited in imaging tissues with short T2 relaxation times, such as bone, ligaments, and cartilage, due to their rapid signal decay. This limitation has spurred the development of specialized MRI techniques designed specifically for short‐T2 tissue imaging.

Analysis of the Justification for Spinal Computed Tomography (CT) Scans Performed in Togo

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
The undeniable benefits of irradiating examinations such as CT scans should not overshadow their potential harmful effects, particularly late risks. Hence it is important to justify CT scans requested for patients. This study revealed that a significant number of spinal CT scans performed in developing countries such as Togo were not a priori justified,

PARAMETRIC MODEL OF LUMBAR VERTEBRA

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Design and Engineering Graphics, 2010
The present work proposes the realization of a parametric/variational CAD model of a normotype lumbar vertebra, which could be used for improving the effectiveness of actual imaging techniques in informational augmentation of the orthopaedic and traumatological diagnosis.

Finding lumbar vertebrae by evidence gathering

open access: yes, 2000
Low back pain is a very common problem and lumbar segmental instability is one of the causes. It is essential to investigate lumbar spine movement in order to understand instability better and as an aid to diagnosis.

Development of Artificial Intelligence‐Assisted Lumbar and Femoral BMD Estimation System Using Anteroposterior Lumbar X‐Ray Images

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The early detection and treatment of osteoporosis and prevention of fragility fractures are urgent societal issues. We developed an artificial intelligence‐assisted diagnostic system that estimated not only lumbar bone mineral density but also femoral bone mineral density from anteroposterior lumbar X‐ray images.

Comparison of External Rotation Torque of Short External Rotator Muscles in Hip Flexion Position

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, EarlyView.
Preserving the short external rotator muscles of the hip helps prevent dislocation after total hip arthroplasty, but it's unclear which muscles are most critical. This study quantified the external rotation torque in cadaveric hips and found that the obturator externus provides the highest torque during deep hip flexion, where dislocations often occur.
