Automatic spatial association for luminance
In the present study, we investigated whether luminance and the side of response execution are associated, showing a SNARC-like effect (faster responses with the left hand for dark stimuli, and vice versa for light stimuli).

A series of studies was conducted to investigate the effects of display background luminance, display contrast ratio and adaptation luminance on the legibility of self-luminous displays in aircraft cockpits. The studies were designed to avoid the typical confounding of these three variables, and employed luminance levels that are representative of ...

So often during heart screenings the patients spill their barium on to their gowns from the spoon which they are offered in the screen room. Following the introduction of luminous beakers it seemed obvious to have a luminous spoon as well, to help the patient at this phase of examination. These spoons, however, are not manufactured for X-ray purposes.

Improvement of luminance and luminous efficacy in PDPs
Journal of the Society for Information Display, 2000Abstract— The dependence of PDP luminance and efficacy on the input power was investigated for several Xe‐Ne gas mixtures. The input power was varied in two ways: namely, by changing the dielectric‐layer capacitance (thickness) and by changing the sustain voltage.

ONE day in Central Burma the trail in the jungle was exceptionally difficult. It was long past noon when I realised that the return journey would be equally long and tiring. Camp lay on the other side of a long range of hills, and there was a short cut from the main trail that would save several miles, but this trail was faint.

Luminance and Luminous Emittance
1971When two light sources of the same luminous intensity, one of which has a larger area than the other, are regarded successively, the smaller appears to the eye to be brighter than the other.

When a refractive index modulation of dispersive medium moves at the speed of light in vacuum, an incident electromagnetic wave, depending on its frequency, either is totally transmitted with a phase shift, or forms a standing wave, or is totally reflected with the frequency upshift. The luminal mirror converts a short incident pulse into a wave packet

Luminance and Luminous Intensity Indicatrices of Isobilateral Leaves
Applied Optics, 1971The luminance and luminous intensity characteristics of the leaves of several forest species of eucalypts have been investigated and compared with freshly smoked magnesium oxide. Results indicate that different species of the same genus can have distinctive indicatrices. Inspection of the indicatrices for the leaves showed that, for practical purposes,

We analyze a new popular video-game called Lumines, which was developed by Sony for the PSP platform. It involves a sequence of bichromatic 2×2 blocks that fall in a grid and must be shifted or rotated by the player before they land. Patterns of monochromatic 2×2 blocks in the terrain are regularly deleted.

The Luminance Conditions of Transparency
Perception, 1997In two experiments the luminance conditions for the occurrence of phenomenal transparency in achromatic flat patterns was studied. Let a, p, q and b be, respectively, the luminances of the parts A, P, Q, and B of a pattern comprising a transparent square on a two-part background, where P and Q are the parts of the square on backgrounds A and B ...
