Measurement of infrared level lifetime by upconversion luminescence

Optics Letters, 2011
Based on repetition frequency-dependent excited state absorption (ESA) upconversion (UC) luminescence, a method to measure the lifetime of an IR intermediate level is proposed so long as ESA UC luminescence can occur in the rare earth ions. The feasibility of this idea is demonstrated via a theoretical simulation.

Frequency-Domain Measurement of Luminescent Lanthanide Chelates

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2010
The sinusoidal modulation of excitation intensity and phase-sensitive detection of emission is ideally suitable for the accurate determination of the lifetime and intensity of lanthanide luminescence. In this work we elaborate on the general mathematical and instrumental techniques of the frequency-domain (FD) measurements in the low-frequency domain ...

Effects of reflected light in luminescent paint measurements

AIAA Journal, 2001
A theoretical model is described that may be used to calculate the effects of reflected light in luminescent paint measurements. The key assumption of the model is that the paint may be treated as a diffuse reflector at the paint's emission wavelength.

Dispersion and luminescence measurements of optical waveguides

Journal of Applied Physics, 1983
Measurements are reported for the dispersion curves in the visible wavelength range of a variety of optical waveguides. Waveguides were formed in LiNbO3 and LiTaO3 by the implantation of helium ions. The radiation damage reduces the refractive index in both materials by about 12% throughout the visible region.

Analogue circuits for luminescence polarization measurements [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1970
Very simple instrumentation, using the properties of balanced resistance bridges, can be used to measure directly the polarization of luminescence, emission anisotropy and other parameters. The incorporation of these circuits into a simple manually operated polarization photometer suitable for routine measurements or teaching purposes, and also into a ...

Physical measurements and the nature of the luminescent centre [PDF]

open access: possibleBritish Journal of Applied Physics, 1955
Important information concerning the nature of the luminescent centre may be derived from comparatively simple physical measurements. Comparison of the temperature dependences of luminescence efficiency and decay rate gives information about the location of dissipative transitions and permits the calculation of activation energies and frequency factors

Method of Measuring Luminescent Screen Potential

Journal of Applied Physics, 1938
A method has been devised for the determination of potentials of areas on the interior surface of the glass envelopes of vacuum tubes. Measurements by this method may be made on almost any type of finished tubes. Results obtained have been checked by a second method.
