The Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey: Variability Selection and Quasar Luminosity Function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The SDSS-IV/eBOSS has an extensive quasar program that combines several selection methods. Among these, the photometric variability technique provides highly uniform samples, unaffected by the redshift bias of traditional optical-color selections, when ...

Phenotypic plasticity in a novel set of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor‐adapted non‐small cell lung cancer cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Phenotypic plasticity in a newly established set of EGFR inhibitor‐adapted NSCLC cell lines during adaptation and in established cell lines. Here, we introduce novel sublines of the EGFR‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines HCC827 and HCC4006 adapted to the EGFR kinase inhibitors gefitinib (HCC827rGEFI2μm, HCC4006rGEFI1μm), erlotinib ...

The Brightness Distribution of Bursting Sources in Relativistic Cosmologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We present analytical solutions for the integral distribution of arbitrary bursting or steady source counts as a function of peak photon count rate within Friedmann cosmological models.

The HerMES Local Luminosity Function [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2015
AbstractWe exploit the Herschel Extragalactic Multi-Tiered Survey (HerMES) dataset along with ancillary multi-wavelength photometry and spectroscopy from the Spitzer Data Fusion to provide the most accurate determination to date of the local (0.02<z<0.5) Far-Infrared Luminosity and Star Formation Rate Function.

THE EVOLUTION OF THE GALAXY REST-FRAME ULTRAVIOLET LUMINOSITY FUNCTION OVER THE FIRST TWO BILLION YEARS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present a robust measurement and analysis of the rest-frame ultraviolet (UV) luminosity functions at z = 4–8. We use deep Hubble Space Telescope imaging over the Cosmic Assembly Near-infrared Deep Extragalactic Legacy Survey/GOODS fields, the Hubble ...

CD9‐association with PIP2 areas is regulated by a CD9 salt bridge

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The tetraspanin CD9 has an intracellular salt bridge. If CD9 opens, open‐CD9 moves from PIP2‐rich areas to regions populated by its interaction partner EWI‐2. Hence, the state of the salt bridge regulates the distribution of CD9 and by this CD9‐EWI‐2 complex formation.

The Hα and [O iii] λ5007 Luminosity Functions of 1.2 < z < 1.9 Emission-line Galaxies from Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Grism Spectroscopy

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Euclid and the Roman Space Telescope (Roman) will soon use grism spectroscopy to detect millions of galaxies via their H α and [O iii ] λ 5007 emission. To better constrain the expected galaxy counts from these instruments, we use a vetted sample of 4239

THE NEXT GENERATION VIRGO CLUSTER SURVEY (NGVS). XIII. THE LUMINOSITY AND MASS FUNCTION OF GALAXIES IN THE CORE OF THE VIRGO CLUSTER AND THE CONTRIBUTION FROM DISRUPTED SATELLITES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present measurements of the galaxy luminosity and stellar mass function in a 3.71 deg2 (0.3 Mpc2) area in the core of the Virgo Cluster, based on griz data from the Next Generation Virgo Cluster Survey (NGVS).

Downregulation of sST2, a decoy receptor for interleukin‐33, enhances subcutaneous tumor growth in murine pancreatic cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Subcutaneous implantation of murine Panc02 pancreatic cancer cells depleted of sST2, a soluble decoy receptor for the proinflammatory interleukin‐33 (IL‐33), leads to a decreased number of GLUT4‐positive cancer‐associated adipocytes, reduced levels of the anti‐inflammatory molecule adiponectin, increased phosphorylation of IκBα, elevated Cxcl3 ...
