The Redshift Evolution of the Luminosity Function of Type II Gamma-Ray Bursts
As of 2023 December, the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory satellite has detected more than 1600 gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). We select 307 Type II GRBs for constructing the luminosity function (LF) based on the following criteria: (1) duration T _90 ≥ 2 s; (2)

Herein, the electroplating of titanium from an organic solvent, ethaline, is shown. Polymer additives are shown to smooth the roughness of the film, and small molecule additives are shown to produce a near‐mirror finish to the deposited metal. Titanium electroreduction is desired for a variety of medical, electronic, and bonding applications but has ...

Luminosity determination using Z boson production at the CMS experiment
The measurement of Z boson production is presented as a method to determine the integrated luminosity of CMS data sets. The analysis uses proton–proton collision data, recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC in 2017 at a center-of-mass energy of ...

Graded refractive index (GRI) structures are prepared from the layer‐by‐layer spray coating of the mesoporous SiO2 nanoparticles, showing high solar transparency and thermal emissivity. Under outdoor conditions, after 50 days, the GRI‐coated photovoltaics show on average 6.65 ± 1.48 °C lower than that of the non‐coated references, maintaining 80.9 ± 8 ...

Mass and Luminosity Function of the Pleiades [PDF]
From a proper motion survey by Pels and photometric measurement of selected stars it was found that the Pleiades cluster extends till at least 496 from the centre, corresponding to 10 pc at a distance of 125 pc. It turns out that the luminosity function of the Pleiades is a function of the distance to the centre, the proportion of faint stars ...

This study reveals that higher shell S coordination can effectively modulate the spin state of FeN4 site via long‐range electronic interactions, giving rise to the oriented generation of singlet oxygen from peroxymonosulfate activation. Abstract Precise manipulation of coordination structure of single‐atom sites and establishment of schematic ...

A NEW LUMINOSITY FUNCTION FOR GALAXIES AS GIVEN BY THE MASS-LUMINOSITY RELATIONSHIP [PDF]
The search for a luminosity function for galaxies both alternative or companion to a Schechter function is a key problem in the reduction of data from catalogs of galaxies. Two luminosity functions for galaxies can be built starting from two distributions of mass as given by the fragmentation. A first overall distribution function is the Kiang function

Achieving Large and Anisotropic Spin‐Mediated Thermal Transport in Textured Quantum Magnets
An advanced solvent‐cast cold pressing method is developed to synthesize highly textured quantum magnets. By aligning spin chains in Ca2CuO3 perpendicular to the pressing direction, a spin‐mediated thermal conductivity of 10 ± 1 W m⁻¹ K⁻¹ is achieved, the highest reported for polycrystalline quantum materials.
