A Near-infrared-faint, Far-infrared-luminous Dusty Galaxy at z ∼ 5 in COSMOS-Web
A growing number of far-infrared (FIR) bright sources completely invisible in deep extragalactic optical surveys hint at an elusive population of z > 4 dusty, star-forming galaxies.

Evolution of Very Luminous Infrared Galaxies [PDF]
We have completed spectroscopic observations (Wu et al. 1997a) of a sample of 73 very luminous infrared galaxies (log(LIR/L⊙) ≥ 11.5;H0 = 50 km s−1 Mpc−1) from the 2-Jy catalogue (Strauss et al. 1992) using the 2.16m telescope at the Beijing Astronomical Observatory. Spectral and interacting classifications are performed for the sample (Wu et al. 1997b)

We present JWST Mid-InfraRed Instrument/Medium-Resolution Spectrometer (MIRI/MRS) observations of an infrared luminous disk galaxy, FLS1, at z ∼ 0.54. With a lookback time of 5 Gyr, FLS1 is chronologically at the midpoint between the peak epoch of star ...

WARM MOLECULAR GAS IN LUMINOUS INFRARED GALAXIES [PDF]
We present our initial results on the CO rotational spectral line energy distribution (SLED) of the $J$ to $J$$-$1 transitions from $J=4$ up to $13$ from Herschel SPIRE spectroscopic observations of 65 luminous infrared galaxies (LIRGs) in the Great Observatories All-Sky LIRG Survey (GOALS).

UV-bright Star-forming Clumps and Their Host Galaxies in UVCANDELS at 0.5 ≤ z ≤ 1
Giant star-forming clumps are a prominent feature of star-forming galaxies (SFGs) and contain important clues on galaxy formation and evolution. However, the basic demographics of clumps and their host galaxies remain uncertain.

Asca Observations of Luminous Infrared Starburst Galaxies [PDF]
We present recent results of X-ray observations of two luminous infrared galaxies, NGC3690+IC694 (Arp299) and NGC1614 obtained by the Japanese X-ray astronomical satellite ASCA. Both galaxies have quite high infrared luminosity (> 1011L⊙) and strong evidence of merger.

Selecting the first galaxies at z > 7 − 10 from JWST surveys is complicated by z < 6 contaminants with degenerate photometry. For example, strong optical nebular emission lines at z < 6 may mimic JWST/NIRCam photometry of z > 7–10 Lyman-break galaxies ...

Dense gas in luminous infrared galaxies [PDF]
Molecules that trace the high-density regions of the interstellar medium have been observed in (ultra-)luminous (far-)infrared galaxies, in order to initiate multiple-molecule multiple-transition studies to evaluate the physical and chemical environment of the nuclear medium and its response to the ongoing nuclear activity. The HCN(1-0), HNC(1-0), HCO+(
