The Nature of Ultra-Luminous Infrared Galaxies

2000
We review investigations with SWS, ISOPHOT-S, and ISOCAM-CVF of several samples of ultra-luminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs) drawn from IRAS catalogs. The mid-IR data indicate that the majority of the local ULIRG population is predominantly powered by star formation but that AGN activity plays a signi.cant role in many sources and dominates the most ...

SED DECOMPOSITION OF INFRARED-LUMINOUS GALAXIES

Publications of The Korean Astronomical Society, 2012
We select infrared-luminous galaxies by cross-matching the SDSS spectroscopic sample of galaxies with the WISE all-sky survey catalog. Based on photometric data points covering from SDSS u-band to WISE , their spectral energy distributions (SEDs) are separated into AGN, elliptical, spiral, and irregular galaxy components.
