Hybrid Predictive Model: When an Interpretable Model Collaborates with a Black-box Model [PDF]
Interpretable machine learning has become a strong competitor for traditional black-box models. However, the possible loss of the predictive performance for gaining interpretability is often inevitable, putting practitioners in a dilemma of choosing between high accuracy (black-box models) and interpretability (interpretable models).

Design, Modeling, and Control of a Soft Robotic Diaphragm‐Assist Device in a Respiratory Simulator
A soft robotic diaphragm‐assist device using fabric‐based pneumatic actuators with a 2‐step control system to optimize synchronization and support is introduced. This system can detect the initiation of breathing to trigger assistance and regulate pressures to provide the correct level of inhalation augmentation. Validation and testing are completed on

Lumped-parameters equivalent circuit for condenser microphones modeling
This work presents a lumped parameters equivalent model of condenser microphone based on analogies between acoustic, mechanical, fluidic, and electrical domains. Parameters of the model were determined mainly through analytical relations and/or finite element method (FEM) simulations. Special attention was paid to the air gap modeling and to the use of

Lumped Parameter Thermal Model of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines [PDF]
This paper describes a thermal equivalent circuit of Liquid Cooling Totally Enclosed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (LCTE-PMSMs). Conductive heat transfer in all directions is taken into account.

This study introduces polyethylene glycol‐functionalized carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to enhance dispersion, interfacial bonding, and 4D printability in polyvinyl chloride‐PCL nanocomposites. The optimized 4D composite (0.5 wt% CNT) achieves a 25% increase in tensile strength, 95.78% shape fixity, and 5‐s recovery time.

A lumped-parameter model represents the frequency dependent soil-structure interaction of a massless foundation placed on or embedded into an unbounded soil domain. The lumped-parameter model development have been reported by (Wolf 1991b; Wolf 1991a; Wolf and Paronesso 1991; Wolf and Paronesso 1992; Wolf 1994; Wolf 1997; Wu and Lee 2002; Wu and Lee ...

Does the abiotic environment influence the distribution of flower and fruit colors?
Abstract Premise Color in flowers and fruits carries multiple functions, from attracting animal partners (pollinators, dispersers) to mitigating environmental stress (cold, drought, UV‐B). With research historically focusing on biotic interactions as selective agents, however, it remains unclear whether abiotic stressors impact flower and fruit colors ...

Bond Graph Model of Cerebral Circulation: Toward Clinically Feasible Systemic Blood Flow Simulations
We propose a detailed CellML model of the human cerebral circulation that runs faster than real time on a desktop computer and is designed for use in clinical settings when the speed of response is important.
