Anatomical Study of Lateral Compression II Screw Path and Entry Parameters Based on Three‐Dimensional CT Image Reconstruction Techniques

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1454-1463, May 2025.
This graphical abstract illustrates a study where 43 adult patients (21 males, 22 females) underwent CT scans to reconstruct 3D pelvic models using Mimics and 3‐Matic software. The analysis measured the Lateral Compression II (LC‐II) screw path, revealing sex‐based anatomical differences that could improve the precision and safety of percutaneous LC‐II

An In vitro Simulation Method for the Tribological Assessment of Complete Natural Hip Joints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The use of hip joint simulators to evaluate the tribological performance of total hip replacements is widely reported in the literature, however, in vitro simulation studies investigating the tribology of the natural hip joint are limited with ...

Customized Metal 3D Printed Total Wrist Prosthesis in the Treatment of Severely Destroyed Wrist: Design Rationale and Clinical Applications

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1536-1546, May 2025.
Four patients with severe wrist destruction from various causes were treated with customized 3D‐printed prostheses. In addition to the specific articular surface matching their original radiocarpal joint, two innovative proximal component designs were created to address different bone defects.

Hand-arm vibration syndrome

open access: yesRheumatology, 2019
Use of vibrating tools often leads to development of hand-arm vibration syndrome. It manifests with vascular symptoms, neurologic (carpal tunnel syndrome) and musculoskeletal symptoms (impaired grip strength, osteoarthritis, bone necrosis).

Effects of partial wrist arthrodesis on loading at the radiocarpal joints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The radiocarpal joint plays an important role in the stabilization of the wrist joint. Degenerative diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis can destabilize the joint and compromise the kinematics of the carpal bones.

A Neural Network Model for Intelligent Classification of Distal Radius Fractures Using Statistical Shape Model Extraction Features

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1513-1524, May 2025.
This study developed an automated distal radius fracture classification system based on statistical shape model (SSM) feature extraction and neural network classification. The method first extracts point cloud data from CT images, then extracts fracture features through registration, downsampling, and PCA dimensionality reduction, before inputting them

Role of MR imaging in chronic wrist pain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging for chronic wrist pain is challenging. Correct assessment of the triangular fibrocartilage, hyaline cartilage, ligaments, and tendons has become mandatory for comprehensive decision making in wrist surgery.

Multifocal Kaposiform Hemangioendothelioma Successfully Treated With Sirolimus Monotherapy

open access: yesPediatric Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE) is a rare vascular tumor that typically presents in infancy and may be associated with the Kasabach–Merritt phenomenon (KMP). We present a challenging case of multifocal KHE on the leg of an infant, initially suspected at birth to be a reticulate port wine birthmark.
