LUNATE AND PERILUNAR DISLOCATIONS

The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1964
1. A study of fifty patients with dislocations of the lunate bone or perilunar dislocations has been made. The period of observation was adequate in thirty-eight. 2. The injuries generally occur in young or middle-aged men after unusually severe trauma. 3. Associated injuries are frequent, and the most common of these is damage to the median nerve.

Peri-lunate and Lunate Dislocations

2017
Peri-lunate and lunate dislocations are the result of traumatic disruption of the ligaments and capsular attachments that stabilize the carpus. They are commonly missed on initial presentation, and a delay in diagnosis can have a detrimental effect on patient outcome.

The management of dislocations of the carpal lunate

Injury, 1981
Thirty cases of dislocation of the carpal lunate, without scaphoid fracture, have been reviewed. The angular relationship of the scaphoid and lunate following reduction was measured and also any widening of the scapholunate articulation (scapholunate gap). A close correlation was found between these measurements and the clinical result.

Palmar dislocation of the scaphoid and lunate

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 1987
A case of palmar dislocation of the scaphoid and lunate was complicated by a delay in the diagnosis and avascular necrosis of the lunate. Anatomic reduction was obtained 34 days after the injury. At 2 1/2 years follow-up the patient had good return of hand function and radiologic evidence of resolution of the avascular necrosis without evidence of ...

An Unusual Dislocation of the Lunate and the Wrist

The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection, and Critical Care, 1982
A case of volar radio-carpal dislocation with complete anterior dislocation of the lunate is reported. The injury was caused, unusually, by forced hyperflexion. The mechanism by which this dislocation is produced and the possible order of events in this injury are discussed by reference to the radiological and operative findings.

Treatment of Acute Lunate and Perilunate Dislocations

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1982
In 55 wrists with dorsal perilunate dislocations, trans-scaphoid dorsal perilunate fracture dislocations and volar lunate dislocations, an anatomic reduction was achieved by closed manipulation in 67% of the cases. After anatomic reduction, 59% of the wrists lost anatomic position during the first six weeks of treatment despite adequate external ...
