A 32-Year Follow-up of Lunate Excision for Kienbockʼs Disease

open access: closedAnnals of Plastic Surgery, 1996
Lunate excision alone is seldom utilized in the management of Kienbock's disease due to concerns about progressive carpal collapse following removal of this central carpal bone. We report a 32-year follow-up of a patient who underwent lunate excision only for treatment of Kienbock's disease with a successful outcome. Although lunate excision is thought

Lunate Excision, Capitate Osteotomy, and Intercarpal Arthrodesis for Advanced Kienböck Disease

open access: closedThe Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery-American Volume, 2001
Kienböck disease is caused by aseptic necrosis of the lunate. In the advanced stages of the disease, carpal collapse, joint incongruity, and osteoarthritis develop. We performed lunate excision, capitate osteotomy, and intercarpal arthrodesis (the modified procedure of Graner et al.) on fifteen patients with stage-IIIB or IV Kienböck disease.

Experimental and clinical studies of Kienböck's disease. Excision of the lunate followed by packing of the free tendon.

open access: closedNihon Seikeigeka Gakkai zasshi, 1984
In late cases of Kienböck's disease in which the lunate is diminished in size, implant arthroplasty cannot give good results. Carroll developed the autogenous tendon graft in 1970. We have utilized this technique in 35 cases with generally satisfactory results.

Chirurgie de la main, 2009
Painful dysfunction of the radio-scapho-lunate joint may occur secondary to a number of post-traumatic, inflammatory and non-inflammatory conditions. When symptomatic, this problem may necessitate fusing the radio-scapho-lunate joint. The goal of this study is to describe precisely the technical steps of radio-scapho-lunate fusion with distal ...
