Clinical outcomes of intratumoural para‐toluenesulfonamide treatment in equine melanoma

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary Equine melanoma is one of the most common cutaneous neoplasms in horses and is particularly prevalent in grey horses. Although these tumours often demonstrate indolent biological behaviour, some progressively develop locally invasive or malignant characteristics over time, making treatment decisions challenging in clinical practice.

Equine vegetative endocarditis and vertebral osteomyelitis due to refractory Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae infection

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae was the causative agent of vegetative endocarditis and vertebral osteomyelitis in a 24‐year‐old Irish draught gelding that presented with prolonged history of intermittent pyrexia and tachycardia. Erythrocyte ‘Feierzeit’ reaction: Novel filamentous and vesicular response to n‐butyl acetate

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Human erythrocytes (red blood cells; RBCs) undergo spontaneous disassembly after several hours of exposure to n‐butyl acetate (nBA). Images of the morphological changes were captured in time‐lapse sequences using differential interference contrast (DIC) light microscopy.

Syrinx anatomy and vocalizations in New World vultures (Aves: Cathartidae): Implications for avian vocal evolution

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
New World vultures are the only avian clade proposed to lack a syrinx and have been described as non‐vocal. Using dissection, diceCT, and histology, we demonstrate that cathartid vultures have novel syringeal features that form a syrinx and vocal characterization reveals that they produce more complex vocalizations than previously reported.

Application of Three‐Dimensionally Printed Surgical Guides in Precise Sacral Tumor Excision and Defect Reconstruction

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific 3D‐printed guiding templates significantly improve surgical precision and efficiency in complex sacral tumor resection and reconstruction compared to conventional freehand techniques. This computer‐assisted workflow reduces operative time, intraoperative blood loss, and fluoroscopy frequency, providing a safer, highly reproducible ...
