Recent interest in lung sound physiology has led to a sharp increase in the publication of articles that describe new techniques of examining lung sounds. Although most of the results of these investigations are of interest primarily to other researchers, several have practical value and should be of interest to the clinician because of the objective ...

Frequency analysis of adventitious lung sounds
Journal of Biomedical Engineering, 1982Adventitious lung sounds from twenty patients with respiratory diseases have been recorded and analysed by analogue methods. The results obtained are compared with those from five normal subjects. The difference in the frequency components of lung sounds from patients with pulmonary obstruction in the airways and those from normal subjects are pointed ...

Real time analysis of lung sounds
Technology and Health Care, 1998This paper describes a real time system for the analysis of pulmonary sounds. The system performs various types of time-domain and spectrographic analysis. It is able to display time-domain waveforms obtained from microphones detecting lung sounds, their power spectra and a real-time linear prediction model instantaneously for the immediate ...
