Lung volume measurements in childhood.

Paediatric Respiratory Reviews, 2000
Although less commonly used in clinical practice than spirometry, lung volume measurements are helpful in assessing progress and response to therapy in situations where lung volume is likely to be increased, as in asthma or cystic fibrosis, or reduced secondary to pulmonary hypoplasia, pulmonary fibrosis, or musculoskeletal abnormalities.

Fetal Lung Volume Measurements using 3D Ultrasonography

Ultraschall in der Medizin - European Journal of Ultrasound, 2011
The aim of the study was to establish fetal lung, thoracic and heart volume nomograms using three-dimensional (3D) ultrasonographic measurements. For this purpose a total of 300 fetuses were examined between 18 and 34 weeks of gestation using Voluson 530 ME and Voluson 730 PRO (General Electic, USA) ultrasound devices with 5 MHz three-dimensional ...

Lung Volume Measurement

2021
Static lung volumes are commonly described as volumes or capacities. Volumes are not subdivided and include tidal volume (Vt), inspiratory reserve volume (IRV), expiratory reserve volume (ERV), and residual volume (RV). However, capacities consist of at least two lung volumes and include total lung capacity (TLC), vital capacity (VC), functional ...

Measurement of Lung Volumes

Clinical Reviews in Allergy & Immunology, 2009
Lung volume measurements always determine total lung capacity (TLC), and most measurement techniques also determine functional residual capacity (FRC) and residual volume (RV). These measurements are needed less often than spirometry-derived values and require somewhat more difficult methods than required by spirometry.
