Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

CD44v, S1PR1, HER3, MET and cancer‐associated amino acid transporters are promising targets for the pancreatic cancers characterized using mAb

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Novel mAbs could detect cancer‐associated membrane proteins on various type of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC) by flow cytometry with viable PDAC cells and by immunohistochemistry with PDAC tissues. Results of protein expression were substantiated by mRNA expression by The Cancer Genome Atlas.

Cystic Lung Phantom to Validate Clinical CT Protocols [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In CT-based evaluation of the extent of cystic changes in the lungs of patients with cystic lung diseases, such as Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), there is a lack of a lung phantom containing air-filled cavities that mimic pulmonary cysts to calibrate the measurement of cystic volumes from CT scans.

Pharmacological effects of osimertinib on a chicken chorioallantoic membrane xenograft model with the EGFR exon‐19‐deleted advanced NSCLC mutation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Osimertinib reduces angiogenesis and PDL1 expression in in ovo tumors, transforming them into ‘cold tumors’ with lower immune activity. Anatomopathological and transcriptomic analyses highlight its therapeutic impact on tumor biology. This study underscores osimertinib's potential to reshape the tumor microenvironment and provides insights into its ...

Underestimation of lung regions on chest X-ray segmentation masks assessed by comparison with total lung volume evaluated on computed tomography [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Lung mask creation lacks well-defined criteria and standardized guidelines, leading to a high degree of subjectivity between annotators. In this study, we assess the underestimation of lung regions on chest X-ray segmentation masks created according to the current state-of-the-art method, by comparison with total lung volume evaluated on computed ...

A potential tumor suppressor role of PLK2 in glioblastoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PLK2 was consistently downregulated in GBM tissues. Overexpression of PLK2 in GBM cell lines U87MG and U251 reduced their tumorigenic potential and enhanced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Suggesting that PLK2 overexpression could potentially be leveraged as a therapeutic strategy to inhibit tumor progression and enhance apoptosis, providing new ...

Lung Nodules Detection and Segmentation Using 3D Mask-RCNN [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Accurate assessment of Lung nodules is a time consuming and error prone ingredient of the radiologist interpretation work. Automating 3D volume detection and segmentation can improve workflow as well as patient care. Previous works have focused either on detecting lung nodules from a full CT scan or on segmenting them from a small ROI.
