First‐trimester screening for pre‐eclampsia and small for gestational age: A comparison of the gaussian and Fetal Medicine Foundation algorithms

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 160, Issue 1, Page 150-160, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Objective Pre‐eclampsia (PE) and small for gestational age (SGA) can be predicted from the first trimester. The most widely used algorithm worldwide is the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) algorithm. The recently described Gaussian algorithm has reported excellent results although it is unlikely to be externally validated.

Artesunate Inhibits Neointimal Hyperplasia by Promoting IRF4 Associated Macrophage Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that macrophage interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4) improved arterial injury‐induced neointimal hyperplasia by promoting of M2 polarization via up‐regulating krüppel‐like factor 4 (KLF4) in rodent and nonhuman primate models. Notably, artesunate is identified as a potent inducer of IRF4 in macrophages, and proposed as a promising ...

NETs‐CD44‐IL‐17A Feedback Loop Drives Th17‐Mediated Inflammation in Behçet's Uveitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU), neutrophils interact with T helper 17 (Th17) cells through neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) to exert a pro‐inflammatory effect. In vitro and in vivo experiments identify that NETs promote IL‐17A secretion in Th17 cells via CD44, and increasing IL‐17A further induces more NETs formation.

Acute interstitial nephritis and drug-induced systemic lupus erythematosus due to chlorthalidone and amiodarone: A case report

open access: yesSAGE Open Medical Case Reports, 2020
Drug-induced lupus erythematosus has features distinct from primary systemic lupus erythematosus. It can occur with a wide variety of agents that result in the generation of anti-histone or other types of antibodies.

CXCL13 Damages Blood Spinal Cord Barrier by Promoting RNF6/Sqstm1‐Ubiquitination Induced Autophagy in Experimental Allergic Encephalomyelitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In multiple sclerosis, the disruption of the blood‐spinal cord barrier (BSCB) induced by CXCL13 facilitates the infiltration of inflammatory cells into the central nervous system, resulting in demyelination and neuronal injury. Mechanistically, the deleterious impact of CXCL13 on the BSCB is associated with a reduction in tight junction protein ...

Biomaterials‐based nanoparticles conjugated to regulatory T cells provide a modular system for localized delivery of pharmacotherapeutic agents

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, Volume 111, Issue 2, Page 185-197, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Type 1 diabetes (T1D) presents with two therapeutic challenges: the need to correct underlying autoimmunity and restore β‐cell mass. We harnessed the unique capacity of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and the T cell receptor (TCR) to direct tolerance induction along with tissue‐localized delivery of therapeutic agents to restore endogenous β‐cell ...

Discoid Lupus Erythematosus of the Scalp in a Patient with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: A Case Report with Complete Hair Regrowth

open access: yesRevista da Sociedade Portuguesa de Dermatologia e Venereologia, 2021
Scalp involvement with hair loss is common in systemic lupus erythematosus. Discoid lupus erythematosus may cause scarring alopecia, characterized by well-delimited erythematous plaques with scales, follicular hyperkeratosis and atrophy, which is ...
