Impact of nicotine pathway downregulation on polyamine biosynthesis and leaf ripening in tobacco. [PDF]
Abstract Traditional breeding and molecular approaches have been used to develop tobacco varieties with reduced nicotine and secondary alkaloid levels. However, available low‐alkaloid tobacco varieties have impaired leaf quality likely due to the metabolic consequences of nicotine biosynthesis downregulation.

Quaternary Interaction of the HIV-1 Envelope Trimer with CD4 and Neutralizing Antibodies [PDF]
The entry of HIV-1 into host cells is initiated by the interaction of the viral envelope (Env) spike with the CD4 receptor. During this process, the spike undergoes a series of conformational changes that eventually lead to the exposure of the fusion ...

The multifaceted role of XCL1 in health and disease. [PDF]
Abstract The chemokine XC motif chemokine ligand 1 (XCL1) is an unusually specialized member of a conserved family of around 50 small, secreted proteins that are best known for their ability to stimulate the directional migration of cells. All chemokines adopt a very similar folded structure that binds a specific G protein‐coupled receptor (GPCR), and ...

Investigating Dark Energy Equation of State With High Redshift Hubble Diagram
Several independent cosmological data, collected within the last 20 years, revealed the accelerated expansion rate of the Universe, usually assumed to be driven by the so called dark energy, which, according to recent estimates, provides now about 70% of

Abstract The non‐linear correlation between the UV and X‐ray emission observed in active galactic nuclei remains a puzzling question that challenges accretion models. While the UV emission originates from the cold disk, the X‐ray emission is emitted by a hot corona whose physical characteristics and geometry are still highly debated.

Quasars as high‐redshift standard candles
Abstract In the past few years, we built a Hubble diagram of quasars up to redshift z∼7$$ z\sim 7 $$, based on the nonlinear relation between quasars' x‐ray and UV luminosities. Such a Hubble diagram shows a >4σ$$ >4\sigma $$ deviation from the standard flat Λ$$ \Lambda $$CDM model at z>1.5$$ z>1.5 $$.

Fat type and baking conditions for cookies recipe: a sensomic approach
Summary Fat replacement is a particular challenge for food technologists as it determines changes in the rheological properties, which could be translated into a reduction of the consumer's acceptability. In this context, a sensomic approach has been applied to cookies obtained by using different fats and baking conditions for orienting product ...

Does $$\varLambda $$ Λ CDM really be in tension with the Hubble diagram data?
In this article, we elaborate further on the $$\varLambda $$ Λ CDM “tension”, suggested recently by the authors Lusso et al. (Astron Astrophys 628:L4, 2019) and Risaliti and Lusso (Nat Astron 3(3):272, 2019).
